Hi guys,

I just shot a club-owned old CZ 75B and I had to notice again that the DA trigger ist rather heavy and long, much worse than my SIG P225 (to me).

What do you think? That's really the only qualm I have with the CZ, I might even consider to purchase one next year if the trigger was just a tad better...

I like SIG a lot, but the CZ's competitive price is kinda tempting :)

It is a long trigger in DA mode. That's a characteristic of the design. Can't do much about it. Except, perhaps, shoot it in SA mode, and carry cocked and locked.

The "heavy" part of the trigger can be made less troublesome by getting a good trigger job (which makes it seem lighter, but doesn't really change the weight), or a lighter hammer spring. Or both.

Wolff has different springs and you can visit your local gunsmith.

I have the CZ-85 Combat. I just spent quite a few hours tuning up the trigger. The SA is beautiful, but it is impossible to get the DA to be good. I don't mind the long pull (because I shoot wheelguns) but it gets kind of stiff and heavier about half way through because of the peculiar "ski ramp" design where the trigger shoe is pasing across the bottom of the sear bracket. It's a bizarre design, and I could not get it real smooth even after mirror polishing and smoothing all contact surfaces. You just have to live with it.

I gotta beg to differ on this one.

CZ's are very good guns..but the springs and triggers vary a little. The springs moreso. MOST CZ's have pretty good triggers....now most Sigs Ive shot/owned have better triggers....speaking of "general trigger characteristics of alot of guns"

Dont give up and look around at CZ's...I guarantee you if you find a couple more of them. Youll find a better trigger......

A woman I know chose the CZ-85B because her small hands can get around it and her fairly weak fingers have no problem with the trigger.

Perhaps PCRCCW is right.... sample other CZ-85Bs and look for one with a better trigger.

Your lady friend/acquaintance is unusual. Several women who have tried my CZs or friends' CZs have had trouble with the long trigger pull. As have a couple of my shooting buddies.

PCRCCW's point -- which is valid -- is that most CZs come with pretty good triggers, so look around and experiment.

I have a 75B: I also have a S&W Model 10 and S&W 910: All are DA/SA.
I have medium sized hands and am not particularly strong. For range use, I pull the CZ hammer back to a "half-cock" and this minimizes the trigger-pull distance. I understand the SA 75&85B's are great; it depends on whether you intend to carry the weapon cocked/locked or hammer down or hammer HALF-down. I found that after a few thousand rounds, my trigger is much improved. Of the three handguns I own, the CZ is the most accurate...for ME.

I had Teddy Jacobson do a trigger job and have a decent 9lb DA pul on a CZ 85 combat.

Keep in mind that you will never get any of that money out of the gun if you sell it, though - outside of enthusiast circles, they are little known and don't havve much resale. I gave up trying to sell the 85C for $400 and use it as a desk or truck gun and for plinking.

I have a decent 8# DA trigger pull on my CZ-85 and a very smooth 3# SA pull. But, the DA pull leaves a lot to be desired: It is not "progressive", in other words it gets stiffer toward the end and is not linear like a good wheel gun DA pull. I can shoot the CZ pretty well, it's just not as nice as many other DA/SA autos I've shot (like my Beretta for example) which have a smoother pull on DA.
