I'm eyeballing a Charles Daly .45 BP rifle with a full length tiger maple stock. Can anyoue tell me about Daily quality. I read an article that their quality has slipped since 2006. I cant find much info on their imports.

this is a strange company their quality in auto pistols suffered early on and in general gave them a bad name. As of late RIA-armscorp has been doing their pistols which is a great improvement. I have seen their shotguns up close and even shot one auto loader(looks and acts like a rem 1100) early reports is semi decent quality with little problems. They started selling sharps rifles very recently and again I have seen 1 it is the same quality of my old EMF sharps(high hammer like a bp sharps conversion with a goofy safety) made by Little sharps(I think) I have not seen or handled a cap-bullet bp rifle yet but as with their sharps I would look for ok quality and good shooting.

the Little sharps is not a percussion but a cartrige rifle .from what little I can find out about them they will be offered in 45 colt,38-55,30-30,218 bee,22 hornet ,22lr,22mag and maybe 17 hmr.the 30-30 will be the last run of production but the 45 colt and 38-55 rifles are now showing up at retailers such as www.littlesharps.or www.impactguns.com/store/charles_daly,www., or jnjsmokewagons.com.I just wish someone would buy one and give a report.

The one I was looking at was on gunbroker, .45 Cal and full length stock. Opening bid was 295. Pics were taken at odd angles as if trying to cover up flaws. I passed.

The Daly Black Powder rifles were made for Outdoor Sports Headquarters (a wholesaler) back in the late '70's, early '80's, by Investarm in Italy. This producer also made/makes Lyman and did some guns for Kassnar Imports as well. Today some of Cabela's guns are made by them.

Eric F, I want to clear up a misconception with our 1911's. Armscorp has been building our 1911's since 1998. Rock Island is made by Armscor and came along many years after Charles Daly started with Armscorp. The improvements you speak about are improvements made by Armscorp over the years. RIA was the benfeficiary of these improvements, as was Charles Daly.

The Little Sharps is a new project between Charles Daly and Armi Sport of Italy, with the assistance of The Little Sharps Company of Montana. Rebel is correct, we have started shipping .38-55 and .45LC. .22 Hornet is next with all the other calibers mentioned being introduced thorout this year. Our website will be updated in the next week and all details will be available there.

Hi.

One complaint of many Civil War reenactors is that they have to "defarb" a gun to make it acceptable for reenactment. That is, to remove or alter anything that suggests that the gun is a modern reproduction. This includes the correct period "inspector" marks. Why can't the proper barrel bands, markings on lockplate or other things be done at the factory? It would be good if the rifling was duplicated. For instance, the P-53 Enfield had a progressive depth rifling. There's folks like Bobby Hoyt (Der Frieschutz Shop) who specialize in making barrels correct.

I know Italy & Spain has proofing laws, but couldn't the proof marks be hidden by the stock?

BTW, I'm not beating you up and please don't take anything personal. I'm glad to have a mfg/importer here. FYI, I'm no reenactor. I'm a shooter. I don't care whether my Enfield is a reproduction of the fourth model. It shoots good and that's all I want it to do. However, I do hang around the reenactment boards because of my interest in the wa-oh (war, with a Virginian accent) and I hear this complaint quite often about imported guns.

I'm glad to see that people beside shooters read this forum. Charles Daly may be a shooter but he has an inside track to what the black powder shooters think. I'm going to try and see that rifle that Im watching. The photos were taken at a couple of crazy angels and I want to make sure that nothing is being hid
Thank you Charles Daly for your response.

Mr. Daley, It is great to hear from someone other than the end-user. Your input here is a great advertisement and you didn't even intend it as such.

When do you think the 30-30 will be shipped? Thanks for the replies.

Thanks, Mr. Kassnar, for replying regarding the Little Sharps in .30-30. I've long thought that a small frame Sharps in some smaller calibers would be a great seller and I'm happy that KBI and Charles Daly are stepping up to the plate.

I'm saving my pennies for the .30-30 chambering already. I think it'll be just the ticket for the hills and hollers of north Louisiana with cast bullet loads.

Thanks again for listening.

Is the daly Little sharps in 38-55 a bpcr?

If BPCR means "Black Powder Centerfire Rifle" then the answer is no. The Little Sharps shoots modern centerfire cartridges.

I handled a Charles Daly Little Sharps a few days ago. I think it was 45 Cal. I'm more interested in the small calibers.

The triggers and lever are scaled down in size, too. I can barely get my fingertip on the trigger, and could not get a finger inside the lever to open it. I had to pinch the lever between fingers from below to get a grip on it for opening. :cuss:
