I just got one for Christmas. I wanted a dual purpose gun for Turkey hunting and HD. I dont see many 835's used for HD. I am not a big SG guy and was wondering if something makes the 835 less desirable for HD use than the 500 series from Mossberg. I mean I know 00 buck from my 20" bbl is as effective as from any other, but I am curious.

Seems like a good choice. I hear the thumbhole stocks on them handle well. The bonus is you get choke tubes. I get some tight buckshot patterns at 25 yards with my shotguns using modified and Full choke tubes. Some say you won't get tight buckshot patterns with a modified or a full choke. I don't find that to be the case.

Mine is not the thumbhole stock but the M4 style collapsible. It works well for me as my wife and 14YO daughter shoot it as well and the LOP can be adjusted.
