Home re-finishing

I disassembled the pistol completely aned reblued the slide and other steel parts with Brownell's Oxpho Blue and painted the Alu. frame with Duplicolors new high heat engine paint.
I read about the paint on one of the forims and decided to try it on a rack grade Mdl. 59 Smith. I'm well pleased with the results. I cured the painted frame in the oven on 350 for 2 hours.
Everything was bead blasted to start.
What do you really think. Don't hold back.

I like military-style matte finishes - looks great, but I'm curious to see how it holds up to use.

after some use and handling it will look really nice.

Well it can't be any worse than it did before I started. according to the thread I read it holds up well as it is a paint with Ceramic in it. It's Chemical resistant, oil resistant and heat resistant to 1200 deg. I don't expect it to hold up like a professional re-finish.
But I am curious to see how it holds up as well.

Other than the stutter induced by paint fumes I'd say you did good.

I think it looks good. I would like to see what it looked like before and I'll bet the change is dramatic!!!!

Dodgit, don't hit back when it hangs instead hit the STOP and then reload, My DSL does that with THR all the time THR is the only site that has the problem, took awhile to figure it out, the post has been added their refresh is the screwed up part...
The Orpho should hold up well, the paint will chip at the edges especially if cured, the ceramic paint has no elasticity and tends to chip easier after being hardened, next time ya order from Brownels add a can of their spray molly resin, same process ya just did but will not chip will hardly scratch off without media blasting...

Even though my personal choice would have been something glossy I kind of like it.

That looks good Dodgeit. I'll bet the bead blasting is what made it look so good. Prep work is always the key to the final result of a refinish.
I like those grips too.

I'm also on DSL, come to think of it I don't think it's ever happened at work.

Looks businesslike. Somewhat like the pistol version of a 'truck rifle'.
Please report from time to time about how the finish lasts. That looks like a practical (classic use of word, not popular) solution to the old gun finish problem.
