They'll tell you the price and you can just send your gun to them with payment and it will be returned d'rectly to you with a new Stainless Convertible Cylinder, fitted and numbered to your gun! :D

I have to confess that I have done the same thing several times. Not only did they fit a .45 ACP cylinder to my stainless Blackhawks, they changed a 7 ½” barrel to 5 ½”. I just got my .357 mag back. It now has a 6 ½” barrel and a spare 9mm cylinder.

Accuracy with the .45s is about the same with both cylinders, very good. Accuracy of the .357 is very good. Accuracy with the 9mm cylinder so far isn’t nearly as good.

I had my .45 ACP cylinders trimmed so I could also use .45 AR brass. I also used the same .4525” reamer to ream a couple of the .45 ACP cylinders. The cylinder on my 7 ½” gun measures .451”, but shoots mil ball so well I don’t dare change it. I now mostly use the same loads in the .45 NMBH as I use in my S&W 625. Both are very accurate.

The supposed "One-Of-A-Kind" was recently up for sale for $3,000.00, but the cost of my Stainless Convertible Liberty Gun was less than a third of that price! :D

I obviously need to take more photos. This is the pair of 5 1/2" .45 convertibles I used for CAS. I have one more 5 1/2" and a 7 1/2". The .45 ACP cylinders have all been trimmed for .45 AR. These days I use .357s for CAS, but I prefer to play with the .45s. I mostly use mild .45 AR for range use.

Hey Tom C., I cain't tell much from your pic, but it looks like that pair might have the new style grip frame. Is that right? And are those the new grips or what kind??? And WHERE'S the extra cylinders??? And tell us about the front sights. Your front sight blades look Stainless color, not black like the ones on my guns. What's up with those front sight blades?

An added plus for the stainless models is the ejector housing and frame are steel instead of alum.

Like I said, I need to take more photos. The grips on them at the time were hard rubber grips. I have replaced those grips with checkered Eagle Gunfighter grips. The third one and the 7 1/2" one have smooth Gunfighter grips.

The .45 Colt cylinder headspaces the .060" rim on the face of the cylinder. The .45 ACP cylinder face is also about .060" although the .45 ACP headspaces on the mouth. By trimming roughly .030" from the face of the cylinder, the .089" thick .45 AR rim can headspace properly. It doesn't affect the headspacing of the .45 ACP, just makes them interchangeable, as on the S&W .45 ACP revolvers.

For those who prefer not to do that, there is the .45 Special Cowboy, same length as the .45 ACP and .45 AR, but with a .060" thick rim. It is intended for use in the .45 Colt cylinder, but would probably work in the .45 ACP cylinder as well.

351 WINCHESTER, there ARE steel ejector rod housings and steel grip frames for the blued guns. Most of them are alloy, and they shore are lighter than the steel versions!!!

Front sight blades? Each of these guns started as 7 ½” guns. The 7 ½” barrel was shipped with a higher front sight. When I sent the guns to the factory to get rebarreled to 5 ½” and get the .45 ACP cylinders added, they returned the 7 ½” barrel. I then swapped out the front sight blades. I did have to file the tall blade down a little, but it is still approximately .080”-.085” higher than the blade they sent on the 5 ½” barrel.

I've seen convertible single action revolvers but can one get a conversion cylinder for a double action Ruger? A double action six shooter in .45 ACP/LC would be right up my alley.

I was under the same impression. I have a CCH Sheriff's model 3.75" Vaquero in .45 Colt. Will Ruger fit a .45 ACP cylinder to this particular revolver?

Ruger's prices are VERY FAIR! The number is right there for you to call and find out. I don't wanna tell you wrong. There's a discount for FFL dealers. Give 'em a call and find out. You need to call before sending anyway. Well worth it, even with their recent price increase. With shipping and everything, I think it would cost you less than half the price of what a gunsmith would charge - and here you're getting Factory Work! 100% Ruger! They even number the Stainless Convertible Cylinder to match your gun's serial number!

Nothing like that from the Factory that I'm aware of! A smith could modify your .45 Colt Cylinder so you could shoot .45 acp using the moon clips.
