If your AR-15 has a 5.56mm chamber it will safely shoot anything.

If it has a .223 chamber, like on some of the heavy-barrel Varmint & Target AR's, you should not shoot Mil-Spec 5.56 in it due to the higher pressure.

Either the lower receiver, or the barrel, or both, should be clearly marked with which chamber you have.
