Springfield TRP Range report

Just got back from the range with my new TRP.

I must say that it ran flawlessly with all my mags. There was only one hitch. My wilson combat mags did not lock the slide back for some reason, all the others about 7 different sets all worked just fine.

I haven't yet had time to clean it and find out just what was not running right there but after about 400 rounds of trying to jam it I gave up. It's a green light for my new carry gun.

The only thing I did to it before taking it to the range was run a buffer with some flitz over the feed ramp until it was a mirror finish.

(sorry no pictures yet I'll be sure to post some after I clean it up)

The 20 lpi checkered front on the grips I though almost a tad too sharp but found that I did not notice it at all while shooting and it gave a significantly better control than my other 1911.

I wasn't fond of the original grips but really didn't notice them when firing it at all, they seemed pretty aggressive but seemed to aid once again in control. I found it to be just as smooth as with my Colt GC, and happy that I have a new friend to ride with me in the holster.

sweet glad you like it and always glad to see yet anpther satisfied sa owner. when i was in the market for a 1911 the trp was the first one i looked at, and i have to agree they are nice, and man is that checkering crazy. it is good though i guess you don't have to worry about getting a good hold on it. but that can be fixed and smoothed down a little if need be. but i also think that that kind of handgun is designed with folks who wear gloves in mind, so as with gloves on it would give you the great gripping suface, and since the gloves are own there would be no worry about tearing up your hands.
