I am partial to the cz. i also have a glock 26 and it's a great gun, but the cz has a better grip/trigger

I still say FNP...

December 31, 2007, 02:51 PM
I say Glock 19.

S&W M&P Buy before the end of Jan 2008 and you get two free magazines and a $50 rebate.

XD is my second favorite polymer gun, it was my favorite until I got the M&P. The XD still gets a lot of range time since I have the 5" "tactical" variation and that extra inch makes a disproportionate difference in the sight picture with my presbyoptia (old eyes :( ). So far no 5" barrel options for the M&P.

Glocks just don't work for me, but they are great guns if you can shoot them well.

I hate DA/SA guns, and much prefer the CZ guns in metal frames.

How come the best 9mm, the Sig P239, isn't on the list? Were you not interested in buy the best?

Sig 229

I'd say go for the SA XD.

However, my HK USP9 is a cracking pistol, love it, simple to clean and very accurate.

+1 go with the XD.

I have both the M&P and the XD in 9mm. I had the M&P longer, but the XD is my favorite. I like the trigger better on the XD, and the over all quality seems a bit better on the XD (to me anyways).

I don't care for Glocks, even though they are great guns. They just don't fit my hand, and I don't care for many of the Glocks shortcomings. I also hate the looks; they look like they fell out of the Ugly Tree and hit every branch on the way down. If Glock made their pistols look like a Hi-Point it would be an improvemnt on their aesthetics.

CZ P-01 or the CZ-75D PCR (similar pistol to the P-01 but without the light rail.

December 31, 2007, 07:50 PM
the xd is the best overall handgun in my opinion.

December 31, 2007, 08:12 PM
XD! ;)

CZ with bayonet!!!

Gotta go w/the CZ on this one. High capacity, dead on accurate, and tough as nails.

I hate DA/SA guns, and much prefer the CZ guns in metal frames.

The CZ P01 has a metal frame.

Glock G19.

What 9 mm should I buy?I want the best overall gun.

What do you mean by overall? What platform are you interested in? What duty(ies) is this gun going to be involved in? Best as in accuracy? Concealability? Ease of field stripping? Best looking? Out of the box reliablility? Ergonomics? The list goes on and on.

Please provide more parameters so that a more accurate opinion can be provided...

Get the Glock...IMO, the best pistol in the Glock line-up! ;)

December 31, 2007, 10:09 PM
my glock 19 is my carry gun..........I love it............

I own 3. P95DC, Sig P226 (W. German), newly acquired Beretta 92FS (Italian). Next 2 on my list - CZ75BD & Browning Hi-Power. Beretta has the best feel & 'pointability' of the bunch. It's by far the most enjoyable to shoot. The Ruger is for my wife & relatives to use at the range. No one else touches the others. I'd recommend all of them.

You left out a number of other very good choices off of your list...and most importantly...the selection for ... all of the above.

From your list my choice would be XD.

I actually suggest the Glock 19C. It is wonderful.

Another CZ guy, plus I have a soft spot for metal frames, so P-01 it is. If you don't need the light rail, then get the PCR (my choice).

Have you actually held/fired all of these? Simply going through this exercise will probably make the decision for you.

January 1, 2008, 01:11 AM
I love the XD. Second choice, and not by much, would be the CZ

January 1, 2008, 02:04 AM
I've been called biased...but after years of firing mnay differant sidearms, the CZ works best for me...especially the PO1.

Agree that more parameters would be helpful. All listed on poll are of reputed quality. My favorite 9 mm right now is a Sig P228--balances perfectly for me and feels great in my hand.

So you want a 9MM pistol yet you were fairly vauge as to the use of it. Is it for range, or CCW, or just HD???
Some of the finest on the market are as follows;
SIG P210
SIG P226
SIG P225
S&W 5906
S&W 3913
WALTHER P5, P38, P88, P99
Just to name a few. As for the RUGER SR9, I just got one for Christmas, and haven't had a chance to run her around the track yet, but if she shoots as good as she feels, she could be another to add to the list!

Sig 226, best there is in my 35+ years of shooting 9mm

January 1, 2008, 08:56 AM
For shooting a lot AND pride of ownership: Sig 226, CZ-75, or CZ P01. All the others in order of my prefference are Glock 19/17, EAA Witness (A real sleeper!), M&P, Ruger, XD. For ergonomics, most find the CZs/EAAs to be the best! Don't buy a new pistol without handling one, you'll be doing yourself a disservice!!

I owned a G19, have a CZ75p01 and an M&P 9. I never shot the G19 well, but that was me not the gun. The P01 is a great compact pistol and you should be able to find many reviews and comments on it. I carry mine in the summer, I use to use it in IDPA, but had gone to a full-size CZ75b. The M&P 9 is currently riding on my hips these days. It wasn't even on my radar, but once I held and shot it I knew it was the one. I hope this helps, good luck in your search.
