Got him this morning.....I'm inclined to call it a 10 pointer, but there are two sticker points an inch long below the brow tines.
Been holding out for some larger ones I've seen, but the cold weather and numb extremities won out. Getting hard to find anything of decent size, bucks have been dropping their antlers for over a week now. Probably a cold December to thank for that.

I've always heard that if you can hang a ring on it, then it's a point. That's still a pretty subjective rule of thumb, but take that for whatever it's worth to you.

Nice deer. I also posted my 8pt i killed this morning but its small compared to yours. FWIW, in my state you are allowed 3 bucks a year and one has to have at least 4pts on one side. State defines a point as 1inch or longer so i would say you had a 12pt.

Nice buck. I'd say if it holds a ring, its a point. Go ahead and call it a 12.

That is a real beauty. If you run a line down the main beam the protrusion must stand 1" above that to be considered a point. Again, that is a very nice looking deer at 10 or 12 points.

I think it's probably "legally" a 10 in most states, but if I shot it I'd call it a 12.

I'd call it a 10. I always thought the ring thing was kind of cheesy.

I had always gone by the 1" rule, but it's your deer, your call.
A less ambiguous way to talk about it is to score it, and call it a 130 (or whatever it is, but that's probably close).

When I lived in the eastern U.S. I was taught that eyeguards do not count and your buck would be a ten-pointer. Boone&Crockett (http://www.boone-crockett.org/bgRecords/bc_scoring_typwhitetail.asp?area=bgRecords&type=Typical+Whitetail+Deer) get pretty specific and would seem to give you a ten.
When I moved west, I was baffled by the one-sided counts used by some here. For my own scoring, what counts is how much meat reaches the freezer.

I'd say it was a mainframe 10 with two kickers off the bases

I'd agree with El General, I would call it a 5x5 (10 point) with two kickers.
Some people like to count every single nub to get point counts up really high. I prefer to count to main framing of the antlers as to what it is.
However you call it, its still a very nice deer!

It's only a 12 point if it makes it taste better.

It would be interesting to see how it scored on B&C. That tells hunters more than the difference in 10 or 12 points.
