I am looking for a flashlight and holder for the shoots, what brand do most people buy for this?

Thanks.

I'd probably get the new Surefire LED.

Surefire 6Z is what lives in my Dillon range bag for low light stages. (Yes there are others of similar type around the house for REAL emergencies.)
There are so many tackytickle flashlights available these days that you have a lot of choices. I have a 90 lumen Fenix LED on order.

Where is a good place to purchase these flashlights, and what kind of holder should I get?

I use a Surefire C2 for the dark/no light IDPA stages. My everyday carry is a Surefire 6PL led model. Check out Candlepowerforums.com There is a lot of information there. Good luck.

For IDPA matches I like the $20 Brinkmann maxfire LX. It's plenty bright, has a clicky tailcap and is rubber armored so if you drop it or even lose it, no problem. Walmart, Target, Academy, and other sporting goods stores usually have it.

I use a home made holder and an M3, once you grab the ring it requires no effort to hold the light on target. Tack loads and RWR are much easer than any other methods I’ve seen as well. I used the setup for the first time at the West Texas regional (low to no light) this year and placed 1st overall by a little over 12 seconds, so it works well.

+1 for the maxfire,,,, plenty of light and cheap,,,runs around an hour on a set of bats.

on the night stand i have a 2c cell mag lite that has been modified to use 3 123A batteries with a TerraLux ministar model TLE-6EX runs for about 4 hours and 150 lums,,,,,,this little light is like the sun came out

$15 for a 2c mag,,,,,,,,$25 for MiniStar 5,,,,,,,,,,,a peice of plastic conduit to keep the batteries snug in the barrel of the mag(i turned and drilled a piece of nylon on a lathe to fit)......3 123a batteries and there you have it,,,,,,,a 150 lumen LED torch for under $50 that you could use as a club if you need to,,,,,,,in a small package that i think is the best tac light i got

I just bought the Tacstar T6 with a couple of gift cards and for $45 I like it. I have never done idpa but I would think this would work as it lights up my house at night just fine. Hopefully this summer I can get to a match or two.

www.lighthound.com John is great to deal with.

having said that, I recommend an incandescent over LED, preferably a 2x123 model like the Surefire Z2, or the Brinkman maxfire on the cheap...
