Has anyone tried the Wolff reduced spring kit ? I have a Ruger Sec. Six in SS with a 2.75" barrel and it's DA pull is stiff, will a Wolff 14lbs hammer spring and lighter trigger return spring maintain reliability ?

I've used both springs and had excellent results. I also know a few people that had to go back to the factory hammer spring because of light primer hits. The double action was still better than the original with the Wolff trigger spring and factory hammer spring. The only way to tell how they will work in your pistol is to change them out and hit the range. Run a few hundred rounds through it, and if you have any misfires, go back to the factory hammer spring.

I used the Wilson Combat springs in my GP100. Iowegan told me a 12 lb hammer and 10 lb trigger would be best for defensive use.

I bought a new Police Service-Six in the mid-80s that had a very nice trigger on it. A few years ago I put a Wolff spring kit in it because I was ordering from Brownell's and it's just so easy to just keep adding odds and ends to the order. :)

It made the trigger pull heavier according to my finger and my Lyman digital gauge. I took it out. Oh well.

The best way I got a good trigger job on my Security Sixes is to use the Wolff reduced trigger spring, and then get a 10lb or an 11lb hammer spring for a GP100 -- yes, that's right -- the one for the GP100 will fit and comes in the weight range you need. Try it and see. Depending on the gun, 10lb may get you some light strikes on hard primers like CCI, but it fires Federals all the time for me. If you want a little extra margin, the 11lb is probably better.
