There's a Signature series 1860 Army for sale at a local gun shop. They're asking $400 for it. I got to handle it and love the way it feels. Action is crisp and smooth with the exception that the bolt seems to be letting go a smidge too soon, and has left a short "anticipation" groove at the edge of each of the bolt cut-outs in the cylinder. Otherwise, the finish is in excellent condition. It's been used and looks it with a few minor nicks and scratches in the finish and on the grips. I was going to get a Walker, but saw this and have kind of fallen for it. What do you guys think of the price? I've seen them asking $600 and more for these at the gun brokers.

Sounds like a pretty good deal, you might just be able to talk them down a bit if you tried. That said, if I could have things to do all over again I wouldn't have bought my 1860, instead I woulda just gone with the Walker right off the bat... my 1860 hasn't been shot more than once or twice since the big horse pistol came in the mail a couple years back.

Not tryin to sway you one way or t'other

I agree, if its used, and shows it, you might get it for less.

The 1860 army is an awesome gun. Pleasant to shoot, yet plenty of power.

I fired my first 1860 just recently, it was very pleasant to shoot. With 25gr of FFFg there is very little recoil, but if you connect with the target it will destroy it. I was suprised at how accurate they are also. I figured that the rear sight being on the hammer as opposed to the frame that it would be difficult to hit small objects (soup cans, soda cans), it was acually about the same as shooting my 3rd gen. SAA. I love mine!
