Case Trimming

Well, I tried doing a search but the engine just hangs up.

Im up and running with reloading. Thanks to all the help here from my other thread. I did a couple hundred .223 and it turned out great.

Im moving on to .270. It sure does take more effort on the press to size it than pistol and small rifle.

My question is:
I full length sized the brass due to some of it being from friends and some range pick up and some of my own. It is longer than the max case length in all 3 loading manuals. I dont have a case trimmer, and need some cost effective suggestions on some equipment and all nescessary accesories to get the job done (length gauge, jaw chucks, etc.). Im not a fanboy of any particular brand either. Just something for .270, .223, and 30-40 Krag.

Thanks in advance,

l. e. wilson case trimmer is cheap and effective.

it's a hand crank, making it slower than the powered models. I can trime maybe 200 cases per hour. then i need a break. if that's acceptable to you, it's the way to go

Well for cost effective I don't think you can beat the Lee case trimmers - nothing fancy as they are just a cutter with a length gauge. But they are cheap - 4 bucks or so? Link (

I use it for .223. Slower than other options, but I trim cases while watching the tube so no big deal.

Im looking into the lee zip trim, Ill only be doing about a hundred at a time or so. Opinions?

My budget for a set up is around 40-50 bucks, as this is the final necessity that I have to purchase. So Ive aslready spent quite a bit on reloading in the past few weeks, LoL.

What all do I need for the zip trim?

These are recommended from midway with the purchase of the zip trim:
Chamfer tool
case trimmer cutter & lock stud
cutter with ball grip
universal 3-jaw chuck
.223 gauge, .270 gauge, 30-40-krag gauge...etc? (these are the clibers I need)
anything else? anything not nescessary thats on that list?

Kimber1911_06238 , I like that wilson trimer. I think it might be just outside my budget by the time I get the little add ons though. Might be worth it too. It looks as if it will last a good long while as opposed to the Lee zip trim.

Is this the one?

Im not sure the Lee hand trimmer is up my alley but I like the price.

Right now its between the zip trim and accessories for around 30-40 bucks or 60-80 bucks for the wilson. Im trying to stay around the Lee's price though.
