on some of the potential candidates in the recall election.
Most mentioned candidates do not look attractive. Specifically, though, what is Reardon's position and history? His stint in Los Angeles?
Ummm.... Guess the correct spelling is Riordan.

He's a POS! Anti-gun slob! He (Riordon) would be the last person that we would want in office. The worst part is that we are gonna have to compromise in the long run, ALL of the candidates are for some sort of gun control.
Issa made a statement to the effect that he was for the AW ban in Kali. and Ahhnold said he was pro gun control. If Simon runs again he would be the best of the bunch. Simon was rated an "A" from the NRA and he said that he was pro 2nd Amendment. I think Grey out said that Simon wanted to put assault rifles back in the hands of children!

AFAIK Riordan is known as RINO...while I didn't track his voting record, I think he wanted to extend healthcare to illegal immigrants to umm...yeah musta been altruism, but my cynical side says he wanted the Hispanic and Asian votes. If he is any bit pro gun, he doesn't show it. He endorsed a liberal mayor for Los Angeles.

Of the candidates who've at least said they're thinking about it:
Issa and Simon would be decent. Not perfect, but at least they try.
Ahnuld is an idiot. Riorden is almost Difi-level bad.
McClintock is the one to watch - grade "A" triple-prime 100% pro-RKBA, easily the best of the "at least thinking about it" crowd. McClintock, Ray Haynes and a few others in Sacramento are the really serious true-believer RKBA supporters. And McClintock has a great reputation on fiscal accountability/taxcutter fronts. A serious contender, and a wonderful candidate.
The ONLY one I'd support over McClintock would be Condi Rice. And yes, it's barely possible she'll jump in, esp. if DiFi throws her hat into the ring.
Condi vs. DiFi. Whoa, THAT would be a matchup.
Anyways, the reason Condi is so cool is, not only is she 100% pro-RKBA, but she'd be going in with Dubya's strong support. Which means if you're a lesser GOP figure such as McClintock, Issa, Riorden, etc. and you "bow out" before the election to concentrate as much GOP vote as possible behind one candidate, then Dubya and the national-level party structure will "owe you one". The value of such a debt is difficult to put a number on - but it's a BIG number.
A very big number indeed.
The nightmare is that the GOP will field half a dozen credible candidates, the LP will find somebody who doesn't incite giggles and/or rage, and the Dems will unite behind somebody like DiFi. In which case we're toast, unless all but one of the GOPers back out.
My take: they'll back down for Condi. Not for anybody else.
