i didn't see but one thing i wanted at the gun show so i moved on..... since i really didn't have 1100 for a new m1a.....

so i head down to a pawn shop, which is mainly firearms, most preban assualt rifles.... but in the middle of the glass case is the biggest revolver i've ever seen before....:D

it was a s&w .500 mag.... from what the owner told me they, him and the other guy who run the shop, had put about 20 rnds through it... and it looked brandnew, price on it was 1200.... how's that sound?? he sold the other one he had for 1100 cash....

hopefully i've got enough to trade that i can walk out with the same amount of cash that i had when i went in...

wow that clyinder is HUGE!!! and now im wondering how i lived without it up to this point..... those puny n frames :neener:

Just fired mine today for the first time. The only ammo I had was the 275 grain Corbons.Recoil was not bad, about like a hot .44 magnum.
The price seems a little high, but the scarcity of guns will do that.I paid $759 for mine, but I was on a waiting list for 5 months.

Dealer offered to order one in for me for $900------I thought that was a bit much and passed.

Esp---considering I can get a good .338 rifle/scope combo for that kind of scratch. Or .45-70 even.

I thought I was the only revolver nut that had Zero interest in a S&W .500

Nah I think there's a lot of "oh well" out there on this Mannlicher.

Once a handgun gets close to as hard to carry as rifle and nearly the same weight I lose interest pretty quick.

Still if it's your thing, more power to ya ;)

Yes but the .308 doesnt leave a .50 cal hole :) Just imagine the looks you would get at your local indoor range after firing the 500!

Go with the M1A. Whenever I feel the urge to buy a .500 I hit myself in the head with a baseball bat until the urge passes. But then again, we don't have bears and rabid moose in South Florida.

My SRH is plenty powerfull and yet still packable. I can't think of anything my 454 won't kill that I'd need the 500 S&W. The 500 S&W is huge and not very packable. I looked at a BFR in 500 S&W and that thing was 18 inches long and doubled as a sledgehammer.

This past Saturday at a local indoor range/shop they had a 'industry day' which included the opportunity to shoot all the new goodies the mfg. reps had on hand. Included was a .500 mag. Even from the other side of the building everyone in the place knew when someone touched one off with it because all the windows in the building rattled.

I passed. I have enough radial nerve damage as it is.

Besides, I think the BFR in .45/70 is a more versatile item if you're just nuts about big boomers that you don't see every day.

Rabbit.
