Today I fired my new (to me)6mm Ackley Improved. It's based on a Ruger M-77 ( the older model). The barrel is a medium weight 23", and it's in the factory stock. The barrel is free floated until the last 1" of the forend, where it has contact.

I fired ten groups, all three shots, all at 100 yards. Seven of the ten were under 1", and my best was .2". The worst was 1.5"

Anyone have any experience with this caliber?

Several folks have commented very favorably upon their own Ackley Improveds. There are a number of threads at The Firing Line, if you care to do a search.

Yup!

Got a 788 Remington with a Pac-Nor 3-groove Supermatch in a Lone Wolf stock, 10 twist tube, likes 75 grs, 87 gr, & 95 gr bullets pretty well, not much else. Go figure...;) . I use WW primers, & RL 19 & 22. Good round.
