Hi folks new to the forum but have just purchased a model 140 for $300. it is still new has not been fired, been sitting in a gun safe for about 15 years 2 3/4. It came with 3 Win chokes I believe they are called. Question I have is to fire a slug with this shot gun which choke should I have installed. 2nd question is can I shoot steel shot with this shotgun and if yes again which choke should I use or does it matter.

It would be safe to shoot slugs with any of the chokes. Test them to see which works best in your gun, but I would probably go with IC as my first choice.
Steel shot is probably safe in the gun too. I would use nothing tighter than Mod choke with steel shot.

I have a 140 with an 18" barrel. Works great as a grouse gun in heavy brush. Nice and light. However, just be prepared for the recoil. I would recommend installing a recoil pad if you are going to be shooting slugs (Or anything else for that matter!).
