Double Tap Ammunition

I've seen Double Tap ammunitions web site and they're advertising a 135 gr 10mm round for the Glock traveling at 1600 fps. Thats considerably higher than anything in my books. Any experience with this stuff?

They're good people.
I've bought and shot their .45ACP and .357 Magnum loads, and they're on the "warm" side, though not the hottest stuff made. Low flash, reliable and quite consistent.

Just received my order, (200rd sample pack of 10mm) one of which is the 135gr load. Was hoping to try it out in my G29 and 3" Model 610 later today but it's not looking good for a range trip at the moment

I have no experience with the 10mm but have have used Double-Tap's 9mm, .40s&w and .45acp. I was very pleased with all of the loads I tried. It is now my carry ammo in these callibers.

They advertise heavy 45 colt in boxes of 50 for the same price as buffalo bore sells a box of 25 velocity is 1400fps which is also the same. Is their ammo any good, if so no more buffalo bore for me.

I've shot their 135 gr and their heavier Gold Dot 10MM ammo out of my G29. It's great stuff, but recoil is pretty sharp.
Actually, I went to the range just yesterday to practice with my G29. I fired a couple magazines of Pow'R Ball ammo for the first time.
I was very impressed. Recoil was more manageable than any other 10MM defense load I have ever tried. I've used all types--Winchester ST, Federal HS, Double Tap, Buffalo Bore.....The Pow'R Ball boasts impressive ballistics (1400 fps; 588 ft lbs) yet it was very controllable. One thing I've noticed with my G29 is, after a couple of mags loaded with full-bore 10MM JHP, the tip of my trigger finger is actually numb. No such feeling with the Pow'R Ball.

It's my choice for defense load.

Double Tap is good stuff.
I'll be ordering some when funds permit it. I want to try out the 125gr .38special load in my S&W 340PD.

I have shot a few hundred rounds in various weights for the .40 S&W. It can be pretty stiff recoil for a .40, but seems to be quality stuff: Gold Dot bullets and at least feels consistent in recoil, no undue amount of unburnt powder, etc.
DT claims to have it formulated to shoot within SAAMI specs, and if there were any pressure problems I would expect it to show up in a .40 with a partially supported chamber such as my G23. I saw no case bulges, case rings, raised primers or any other visible signs of over-pressure.
Overall, I am satisfied with it and DT was prompt and accurate on their shipments. :)

I carry double tap in all my carry guns except my .38 specials which are loaded with Remington 158 LHP +P. Call me old fashioned.
Some of the .40 loads are downright painful to shoot in the subcompacts. The 9mm 147 grain loads are about the same speed as most standard 115 grain loads, with surprisingly not much more recoil.

I can not praise double tap enough.
It is my carry ammo in both my 9mm and 10mm pistols.

If I cant get a refund for mine (10mm 135gr and 200gr) I may have some for sale. Have 10 boxes with some shot. 5 boxes of each weight. My Glock 29 did NOT like these loads.

Can you elaborate on what it is/was that your G29 didn't like?

I’ll chime in with the high praise for Double Tap. Mike McNett is great to deal with and offers a high quality product. It’s my choice for 10mm.

I don't want to sound harsh about Double Tap. Mike has been great in helping me try to figure out what happened here and has performed tests on the lot. Mike says the ammo tested fine and was within pressure limits. I will post all the details after I have all the facts. I don't want to make false accusations when my gun may have been at fault. I am sending the gun to Glock for analysis to check camber dimensions and overall gun health. The ammo is awesome and it may have been a freak imperfection in my particular gun. I started this thread to see if others had issues with the ammo and it seems the contrary is true. Details to follow when the facts are in. Thank you for your input.
