I was at a gun shop and almost bought a p95 today because it was 130 bucks cheaper than the new SR9.The SR9 is a better looking and feeling gun but it is a new gun and I don't want a unproven disign.I like the adjustable sights over the p95.Over all I like the SR9 better but it is 130 more and the P95 is a proven disign but at the range I would be one of the first with a SR9 if I knew it would be a reliable gun.I think I would spend the extra 130 bucks if I knew it would be reliable and last because it is for the range and home defence only,I carry my 38 snub anywhere I go.
What would you do please give me your input I am going back after work on Monday to buy one or the other and just can't decide.

What has made you settle on a Ruger in 9mm?

Are you considering any other guns in the same price category or are these your two final choices?

Also, $130 more than what? It would be nice to know what price you are looking to pay for each gun.

I'll vote after hearing what you have to say.

I would get a P95 with 15 round magazines before they discontinue the P95. The P89 is already gone.

if you do go with the 95 you should go with the new 95 the kp95 which is the one that i had. and i liked it alot and alot more than the older model 95's.

i dislike the p95's because they are da/sa i am not a fan of da/sa. and they are huge in my hand, i just can't shoot them well.

If you get a used one they are only available with 10rd magazines but the new ones have 15rd. Old ones have Safety, Decocker only, and DAO with no rail. The new ones have Safety and Decocker only (Decocker no longer available) with rails.

Get the P95, now and if you get tired of it save up and buy a XD, Glock, M&P or Sig.

For the price difference you could almost pick up a used .22lr hangun or for sure a 10/22 .22lr rifle.

Adjustable sites on either of these guns might be overkill....neither will be a "tack driver", although I find my P95 to be accurate enough. My P95's fixed sites haven't moved since the day I bought the gun.

A P95 will hold 15 + 1 and the sr9 holds 17 + 1. Not sure that's a big enough difference for me.

P95's are usually tough as nails, especially for the price. No malfs with mine in maybe 3,000 rounds since I bought it.

P95's have been around for years; you know exactly what you're getting.

If you're not absolutely busting at the seams for a new pistol, why not wait a few months until we get some real world feedback on the sr9?

The gun definitely looks betterthan any other Ruger semi......

I've had a KP95DC since before the turn of the century, so my answer was easy!!

I love my SR9, its my designated ccw now and love the way it feels and the way it shoots. The trigger breaks a little hard but I found it pretty easy to get used to after a few boxes of ammo.

Never been a fan of the P95, mostly because of the bulkiness of them and the grip.

I got my SR9 new for $389 and I've heard people say they've found them even cheaper. The SR9 like the P95 is a sub-$400 gun, for the money its a great deal.

The size of the P95 seems to be a fairly common complaint, but I have BIG hands so it feels mighty good in my paw. :)

The P95 has been proven! Many SR9s like a lot of 345s is still having growing pains and I think most of them caused by the unnecessary safety features. that's the reason I personally chose a P97 over the 345 and am very satisfied. If I buy another 9MM for concealed carry it will be a P95. They're not really that much thicker than most guns with high cap magazines. and lighter in weight than many.

The P89 is already gone.
Blue Brick:
I hit ruger.com to look it up and show you that you were mistaken but YOU WERE RIGHT! I thought only the decock-only models were discontinued. Glad I got a new KP89 last year while I still could!

but I have BIG hands so it feels mighty good in my paw.
Spot77:
Agreed, the Ruger's fat grip feels good in my mitts too.

I'll take the P95 over the SR9 any day. In fact, I like the P95 so much, I just got my 3rd one a week ago, $289 for a NIB SS one.
Can't stand the SR9's trigger, grip, and the microscopic safety.

SR9 in a heart beat!
I'm finding mine to be one of the best shooters I've ever owned.

Accuracy is very good. I would say easily as good as my XD9.
recoil is soft and shot to shot recovery is outstanding, probably due to the high bore axis.

Id go with the SR9. Feels like it was made for my hands, 17+1 capacity, reversible backstrap for your choice of comfort. Its just an all around fantastic gun. I have one and have fired 500 rounds down range without any malfunctions of any sort. Shoots as accurate as I do. Recoil is lovely, straight up then back down to your sight picture. Just look how sweet looking it is too......

I suspect that I will buy an SR9 when I have the scratch again, but I hope sometime in the future they offer a version without the huge SR9 on the side. I think it cheapifies an otherwise really great looking pistol.
