It'd be nice to meet some of you. Would anyone be interested in an Austin-area shoot on Saturday, August 16th? My local range is Eagle Peak, up in Leander:

The people there are very nice, and there's a map to their place on the website. Cost is $10 for a membership, and $10 to shoot. Afterwards we can all go to the Oasis on Lake Travis for a killer view (they have about three levels of wooden decks, way up high, overlooking the lake), Mexican food, and margaritas and beer. OH--the range has pistol ranges at 7, 15, and 25 yards, rifle ranges at 50, 100, and 200 yards, and a free-form sort of shotgun area. The area is roughy west, and a tad north, of Austin.

That is the same weekend at the Austin GlockTalk shoot and I already have my plane ticket to attend. It is the same weekend as the Austin gun show. We are all hitting the Hooter's in Round Rock after the shoot.

I have a bunch of irons in the fire, but i'd love to try and make it, I should know more closer to time. If not we'll have to do a weekend shoot here at my house, I have a 300yd range, but we are gonna wait till it is cooler.:D I have some relatives near Elgin that I have been needing to go see, so maybe it will work.

I am hopeful, and probable. Austin area shooters, please also be aware of the Lone Star Practical Pistol shoot on the Second Sat. of every month. BTW, is it needed to spend $10 to join at Leander prior to shooting?

I'm sorry--apparently, I committed the ultimate sin of Not Checking With the Supreme Authority (i.e., any gun owner's spouse) about August 16th. I'd told him we could go to our ranch that weekend.

Hmmm...from New Braunfels, I think you'd want to go over to Fredericksberg (Hwy 46???), and then you could go west/south on 290 (I think), and then you hook into something, and get onto 1431 before Jonestown. Here's a map:

If that's not clear, I could go look at the atlas, or you could just go the long way: I-35 to 183, then 183 north to Leander, turn left onto 1431, and follow the map above. The shooting range is off of 1431, in Travis County.

I will be at the Glock Talk shoot on 8/16, already have the plane tickets, but can't do the THR shoot as that is the weekend of the Indy 1500 gun show. I will be back in Austin after Labor Day.
