BAR problem

Hello, I need some help on the setting of the gas regulating screw on a Browning safari mark 2. Hope some of you can help me out. Thanks, Jim

I had thought that the BAR used different sized orifices in the different calibers to regulate gas. The older parts list reflected that.

Now, the new ones apparently use a "regulating screw" to adjust flow.

If that's the case, wouldn't it have to basically be a valve?

Wouldn't you just close it fully (no extraction), and then continue to open it a little until extraction & ejection were 100% positive?

As far as what to consider "medium of the road ammo" to use for adjusting, I haven't a clue. It's not like it's an M-1 or something.

That's the way I'm heading with it, but if sombody else knew the trick to it I could save some time.Thanks for the advice, I'll let you know how it turns out. Jim
