Which SIG 9mm is best?

I liked the workmanship of my SIG 220 so much that a 9mm may be in my future. I was going to get another Kahr K-9 but the price keeps going up and as much as I like them, I don't think I should have to pay more for a Kahr than a SIG. I feel that SIG is slightly better made than Kahr even if Kahr has a edge on ergonamics.
It will be used as a car, carry, range gun so I want one of the med frame versions not the full size. The only problem with the 220 that I had was the trigger was too long of a reach for me in DA. Out of the above guns, which had the shortest DA trigger and is you favorite?

SIG 226 with pre-ban magazines is a nice, balanced package (although not ambi:mad:).

P210. :D
For your purposes, the P225 would be best IMHO.

I prefer the P-225 because I carry my guns and a single stack is slimmer than the big, high cap 228/9. The P-239 is another good choice but it's the ugliest gun SigArms makes.

Tough call.
I think the P239 is probably the single best civilian CCW piece on the market, by virtue of its small size, rounded edges, accuracy, total reliability, and flexible caliber choices.
The P225 offers the same number of rounds in a slightly bigger package that's better suited for people with big hands.
The P228 holds a bunch more rounds than the other two models, but the grip is a good bit more bulky.
All of them are exceptionally well made, very accurate, and totally reliable. You'd be well served with either one. It all boils down to which form factor you prefer.
My personal favorite of the group is the P225.

Well my friend, you left out the world famous
SIG-Sauer P226; but I would have voted for
the P228 anyway. Here's why:
a) it has the same basic characteristics as
the P226: reliability, accuracy,
and craftsmanship.
b) IMHO, its the most perfectly balanced self
loader, currently on the market.
c) manufactuer's reputation and customer
service, is second too none.
Best Wishes,

If concealment isn't the highest priority the full size P226 is not only the best 9mm SIG but the best 9mm pistol . I've shot virtually all the full size 9mm's out there and the P226 is just on another level. The most comfortable grip, smooth DA/SA, but most importantly does more to help me hit the mark than anything else I've tried. There's the P210 and P226ST but in 9mm I'd take the lighterweight combat worthy P226 right out of the box.
The compact SIGs are pretty much the same to me and the choice depends on how much concealment is a priority. They're not as easy to shoot as the full size P226 but you'll have a harder time finding a more reliable and accurate compact 9mm. Out of your choices the P228.

Pretty much mirror everybody else.
Sig 226 is best, and biggest. (Too big for general purpose.)
225 lacks capacity, one of a nine's strengths.
229 is heavy for a nine.
228 is perfect for nine, and the grip and trigger reach seem to be made for my hand.
239 is perfect for concealment, but lacks the capacity of the 228, and 226.
The 2009 isn't bad, just lacks capacity (unless you're the law.), and the grip is funky. Awkward isn't the right word, funky is. ;)
I'd say the 228 is the best compromise of those listed.

Of the choices you've provided, I have hd the bet experience w/ the 239 ;)

Absolutely!! I just got back from the range and talked to a friend about the Sig 239 vs. Kahr CCW guns. The Sig 239 BY FAR feeds SD ammo better than so many of other CCW guns. If you compare the Sig 239 vs. most small compact guns, you'll see that the Sig 239 doesn't rely on the feed ramp as much as Kahrs do (an many other firearms).
The way Sigs are designed, the bullet goes straight into the chamber instead of sliding up a feed ramp (which is where most malfunctions occur).
I think the Sig 239 is more practical gun compared to the Sig 228, but I think the Sig 228 is a better balanced gun compared to the Beretta 92.
I had a very hard time downgrading from a Beretta 92FS and Colt 1991A1.
I chose the Sig 239 for CCW.

Best for what?
Of the three you listed, the P-228 is probably the best all-around gun, in that it's small enough to tote but large enough to accept 13-to-15 round mags...

The P228. 15 rounds in a compact package. Can't be beat. It's also very accurate, reliable, and ergonomic.
Hmm. All this P228 talk is making me want to go out and buy a second one. :D

I voted 226.
But the 225 easily replicates the shooting characterisics of the 220 better than the double-stack models.

"Best"?
That's absolutely subjective. After all, they all use the same basic mechanical features.
I, however, prefer the 225. It fits my hand best of all of the Sig 9mms.

The P6 is the only Sig worth it's salt!! If it's good enough for Deutschland, it ought to be good enough for you!! :D

P6 is the German police designation for the P225.

If you are looking for a smaller gun, then by all means get the p239. It is by far the best shooting of the smaller 9mm's that I've tried and it feels good even in my huge hands. Strangely enough, the full size Sigs didn't feel right for me so I ended up with the USP9.....but I'd have to say that you couldn't go wrong with any of the Sig products.
Have fun choosing!

You can buy a short-reach trigger for most if not all SIGs.

They're all good, yeah. Buy whichever feels best in the hand.
Get to a gun store, ask to handle a P226, 228, whatever. THEN pick up a P225, and you'll fall in love and buy that. ;)

The 225 seems to have a loyal following for being the least common of the guns on the poll. I think I will check it out. That is the only one I have not held in my hand. The 239 is more suited to what I want but I don't really like the feel of it. I don't hate it and I could get used to it (not like a Glock which feel like 2x4s) but it doesn't sit perfectly in my hand either. Perhaps the 228 is a little large for what I have in mind.
Is the 225 smaller and thinner than the 220?

My duty gun is a P228 and I love it.
The only other SIG I have any significant experience with is the P239, and I find the grips to be a bit too small. Also, if you're going to have a gun that's almost as big & heavy as the 228, why not have the 228 with twice the magazine capacity? Range day with the P239 is a pain in the arse loading at least twice as often... And double-stack magazines are slightly easier/quicker to index & load, to boot.
I find the P228 to be very concealable and comfortable to wear for several hours at a time. I can conceal it under an untucked T-shirt.
I actually find the grips even on the 228 to be a bit small, and have added Hogue monogrips, which I really like (except that they can stick to the cover garment and made concealment a little tougher).
One of these days I'm going to get me a p226.

I set out to get a 228 without spending big. I never could come up with the right trade combo and get my hands on one. I did however, trade for a 239 a short time ago. I am very happy with the weapon. It's a good size for carry. It's 9mm and shoots well. What more could a shooter want ?
Is it the best ? I can't say. It's the best and only Sig I have. I'm happy.
