A quick heads-up on the growing scandal, first mentioned in this thread (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=329468). I've chosen to start a new thread with this information rather than continue the old one because the information has changed.

According to a post on Merchant Talk it now appears that First Data has decided unilaterally to prevent ALL credit card issuers using its facilities to handle such transactions. I've posted the full report on my blog (http://bayourenaissanceman.blogspot.com/2008/01/latest-on-first-data-citi-merchant.html), along with links to the individuals at First Data who respond to queries.

May I suggest we snowball them with questions and comments? We need to nip this one in the bud.

Saw this in an NRA alert. Tried phoning credit card company at numbers listed for them and got "run around the telephone tree". Sent an e-mail to NSSF. Who knows what that will bring.

Seems that credit card people claimed gun seller was "operating illegally". If this is so, I would think that the relevant LE outfit (BATFE) would become involved, but then what do I know.

The fact that one could not reach a human being at credit card company is more than passing strange, since such lines are manned 24/7, as that over used saying goes, at least the phone lines of the credit card companies I use are. Strange.
