gun store I went to had one in the case and it was marked as new I thought all p7's were used police guns of varying quality does hk still make p7's or is this an "old" new one that's been sitting around for a while?

They are no longer being made. If this is NIB, then it's been sitting around either at the Dealer's or a Distributor's warehouse.

HK makes the P7M8 in batches, they have not made any new 'runs' since releasing the Jubilee Edition in 2004.

P7M8s are commonly purchased as collector guns and never fired. It is not uncommon to see them for sale as NIB guns.

NIB, yes...

HK released several hundred this past year, 2007, right after they released the "final 500" at the end of 2006/ early 2007. There are probably many NIB P7M8s available.
