I am planning on getting into service rifle competition shooting. I just sent my paperwork to the CMP and I should be getting my M1 Garand in the next few months.

My question is about the USAMU Shooting Guides that the CMP also sells. Does anyone have one? Are they worth getting? I like shotguns and pistols too, so I would pick up those guides too if they are good.

The ones available are:
USAMU International Skeet and Trap Guide
USAMU International Rifle Guide
USAMU Advanced Pistol Guide
USAMU Service Rifle Marksmanship Guide

They also have available a CD-ROM called "Rifle Safety & Marksmanship Training" Does anyone have some info on that one too?

With shipping, all five of those together are only $38.70, which I don't think is all that much if they are good.

Thanks,
-Fuzzy

I also have thought about getting the series on service rifle but have not,
I think that a good tape like that or some of better books like the one's from jim owens or david tubb both are also very helpfull. good luck and visit the competition section on this board for more info on shooting and also to ask any questions
where are you located?

I have the Advanced Pistol and Service Rifle manuals. They are good, the pistol guide especally, although fairly basic. I'd say just get all of them.
