with Simple Green and hot water. It's the weirdest feeling to wash a gun with water.

I think from now on I'm going to purchase guns that can resist brake parts cleaner. So much easier.

Honestly, as long as you dry it really well then lube it up properly, you're fine!

I have washed lots of guns in hot water and purple power which I believe is basically the same thing as simple green.
I clean my black powder guns in boiling water and dish soap.

Been doing it for years , and for heavy layers of gunk I use boiling solution of trisodium phosphate( do not use on aluminum). If the rinse is very hot or boiling it will dry quickly. While it is still hot apply lube, a good coating of RIG is what I use.

Why DIDN'T you use brake cleaner? Is there something about CZ75's that they require water and detergent? What's wrong with Hoppes #9 or something like it?

Brake Cleaner contains MANY bad chemicals for the POLY Black finish on Most CZ's. If your gun is blued or stainless...then your cool with it.
Shoot well

Is there a shortage of gun cleaning supplies on the market?

If there is...
Bottle of MPro7 only $80! :)

Water and simple green is relatively cheaper though. If it works, it works.

I assume you mean for a gallon.
I use anything from Breakfree to Hoppes #9, all seem to work fine. Honestly getting water on my gun is the last thing I want to do. I realize if it is dried and lubricated there are no problems, but I don't want to give Mr. Murphy any invitation I can avoid.
I am a fanatic about cleaning my guns and I think I usually by cleaning supplies once a year -- and I shoot a good little bit.
