There is a RCBS rep that has just started posting on TFL. I asked about an auto indexing Pro 2000 and this is the reply. I thought a lot of you would find this interesting.

Pro 2000 Auto Indexing

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HI there, Auto Indexing for the Pro 2000 will be available this year. It will be shown at the Shot Show and should be available for sale shortly after. The Press will still be available as a manual index or you can chose the auto index version. All owners of Pro 2000 can update to auto index. The full list price for the conversion is $99.95. You will find this less through companies where you purchase your reloading products. Hope this helps and have a great weekend. Will be back on Monday.

Nice, it is about time they offered that to compete with Hornady and Dillon. Solid press, I just wish they'd change to a better priming system. The Ram prime is painful and loading the APS strips, ugh.

Loading primers strips is not a big deal. I wouldn't trade the APS system for a tube system. I never have to worry about loading tubes as long as I have CCI primers on hand. Since I only use CCI anyway, it's a no brainer for me to just order the strips.

While the APS strips do take _a bit_ more time to load (I used to use one of the Frankfort Arsenal Vibra-Prime thingies to load my primer tubes on my RCBS 4x4 in a matter of seconds), I WAY prefer the APS's once the press is in action. I no longer have to worry about missed or flipped primers.

The APS Primer system is one of the main reasons that I chose the Pro 2000 over the Dillon 550B. I am glad to hear that auto-indexing is planned, and so affordably. I will be attending the SHOT show and look forward to seeing it in action.

Cheers,

Was in a building when a primer tube full of primers detonated. Tube primers systems are inherently risky. If they were fine and safe, they could ship primers in tubes instead of strips.
I really like my Pro 2000. With large primers its easy to load the strips. Small Prmers is not as easy. Very easy to tell when to add more primers when reloading.
I like the lack of mess when decapping primers.
RCBS PRO 2000 is a good system.
