Do You Prefer Straight or Pistol Grip?

No, I don't mean protruding pistol grip like the AR or AK.
I mean, straight grip stock as in the Mosin Nagant or pistol grip stock as in the M1.
Both have merits but I like the control offered by the pistol grip.
What is your opinion?

For me it depends. I like semi-pistol grips on my rifles. But for a good double shotgun, a straight grip feels like magic.

I shoot both equally well as far as I can tell but prefer the pistol grip.

On a lightweight upland shotgun I like strait

Heavier duck gun I prefer pistol

Regular full size Rifle I like pistol

Small carbine strait is just fine

On any shoulder arm, rifle or shotgun, I much prefer the "full" pistol, ala Ar-15 or AK-47. I don't lke the semi pistol grips at all.

If you evev have the chance to shoot a Remington 11-87 Police model, you'll never even look at a so-called "sporting" shotgun again.

I'll always go for the pistol grip as opposed to straight stocks.

Same for Rolling Blocks and Sharps rifles.

Some give you no choice, like M96 Swedish Mausers.

Leverguns seem to look more classic with the straight grips, though...

The straight grip is faster to mount to the shoulder, points better and forces the shooting hand elbow higher, as is proper.

The "full" pistol grip that cheygriz likes catches grass, twigs clothing and doorjambs.

But differences of opinions are what keep the after market folks in business.

I like straight grips on lever actions and muzzleloaders.

I prefer pistol grips on my semiautos and bolt actions. E.g., IMO the stock on a Finnish m/39 Mosin-Nagant is more comforatable than the straight-gripped M-Ns.

I also like a full, separate pistol grip on my EBRs, e.g., my two AKs.

Rather ecumenical, ain't I? :)

It's called the Ruger #3. Wouldn't be too hard to get one rebarreled to .444 Marlin:

And I already own a Ruger #1.

They pop up every now and then on www.gunsamerica.com and www.auctionarms.com
