Ok so it really isnt that custom but, I was thinking about buying the frame off of the internet and buying a barrel off the internet also. When I put them together it will make a full gun,
do I need to get this gun registerd in any way? or do I only need to fill out paperwork when I buy a full gun? Or am I in the clear....:D
Thanks, Anthony

You will need a permit or a CCW to purchase the frame in most states. And then will have to register it in the caliber of your choice in many states. In Michigan it is called a "safety inspection." Check with local laws.

Federal law is that you must buy the frame through a dealer. The barrel you can order by mail, but you will need all the same paperwork for the frame that you normally fill out for any gun.

Well then I guess ordering the frame off the internet is out of the question, and that really sucks because my local dealer does not carry T/C ( I dont know how hard it would be to get a frame for me) and the closest gun store would be Gander that sells T/C, I should look at their prices....
Has anyone shot one of these? I was thinking about getting one in .223, How bad is recoil going to be?

you missed something. you can order/buy from anyone you like; you just need to have the frame shipped to any FFL dealer to actually transfer it to you. they dont need to be a TC dealer. most FFL's charge $25 or so for the transfer.

well, a short drive to Cincy will put you in touch with 10+ dealers that will happily do transfers for you, as well as at least 2 TC dealers. Be sure your dealer knows that transfers are some of the easiest dollars you can pocket. May I ask who this dealer is?

Has anyone shot one of these? I was thinking about getting one in .223, How bad is recoil going to be?I have mine in .30-30 and an extra barrel in .45-70. The .30-30 is a tack-driver and the .45-70 is for masochists only. I have shot the .223 and it is extremely accurate. Recoil is minimal.

Don't know his name, he runs a very small local gunshop that doesnt even have store hours, he comes in when he wants, usually on weekends. He absolutly refused to do any transfers with me at all, from anyone. Not even for money.
The name of the store is GunSport Inc.
May I also add that he will not do any transfers because he lost $10,000 to someone on GunBroker over a ffl transfer. He said he would have broke the guys two legs if he could find him...lol...I think I would too if I lost 10,00 bucks.....anyway the guy who runs the gunstore found out that the guy who stole his money died about a year later from lung cancer....

If I were you, I'd look a little harder for someone to give my gun money to. Your description makes me think I'd be done shopping there.

You need a new gunshop.
Ordering an Encore frame should be easy for any decent FFL dealer. Get your Encore, get what you want.

I have a local dealer who does transfers - I shopped the internet
for a T/C G2 frame & found one for $275 + $20 S & H then
the transfer fee was $ 25 I found a barrel,
14" fixed sights in 7x30 Waters for $ 240 so
it cost $ 515 + $45 transfer & S&H = $560
WHat do complete T/C G2 Contenders run
at wherever the nearest dealer is for you? Do
the math.-
Pretty petty imo for your nearest dealer to not
do a transfer for this sort of specialized hadgun that he
doesn't carry IFF you have been a good customer
and bought other firearms from the biz.
Oh, It's one recoiling sumgun but fun - the G2 frame
has an improved angle for handling recoil
as well as other improvements to the action.
A barrel maker - if they don't already make the calilber
you want they'll do it - just takes time is:

On gunbroker.com they have a list of FFL dealers who will transfer a
firearm for buyers via their auctions. ENter state and zip code
The site is shut down at the moment but should be back up - maybe
they're doing maintenance.
