I need an old style internal extractor for a FN HiPower, but I haven't found a parts place that carries them, anybody know one?

They illustrate the old sstyle extractor, with an asterisk (*,) meaning it is one of the parts which is frequently out of stock.

You might take a look at an issue of Shotgun News. There are several parts dealers which specialize in parts for military firearms. Sorry I don't have a copy at hand.

Best of luck - -

Made of silver, no. From C&S they are probably made as they should be, out of the best spring steel and properly tempered.

That cost is why the makers of 1911 clones use extractors that are cast, made by MIM or made by other cheap methods. That is why extractors on 1911 clones break, lose tension and generally are no good.

Here's two pounds (http://www.andale.com/stores/sf_itemHome.jsp?foo=bar&sid=95360&cid=7402588&lid=24972435&mode=1) of expertly tempered hand forged spring steel (from a mercedes truck leafspring I think) for $145 dollars. I still think the 1oz $63 dollar extractor is overpriced :D
