I'm new to this forum. I inherited two S&W revolvers. I am hoping someone on this forum can provide the date of manufacture. The serial numbers are AGY5371 (Model 19-5) and AFR4044 (Model 686). Thanks in advance.

AGY & AFR are both in the 1984 -85 range.

You would have to factory letter them with S&W to find out the exact details.

Thanks so much for the S&W Mfg. dates (and getting back to me so soon). I really appreciate the help.

My friend wants to sell me his Colt Delta Elite s/n DS211X and Taurus 9mm, s/n L8762X. I like Colt, but it is a 10mm so I'm not sure I want to buy it. The Taurus is...well a Taurus. (I'd rather have a Beretta).

In any case, do you know the Mfg. dates for the above Colt and Taurus? Thanks in advance for your kind help.

I don't have a serial number list for them to pin it down exactly.
But the 10mm Delta Elite was only made for a few years starting in 1987.
They were discontinued, I think, due to frame & slide cracking problems.

Nobody knows when Taurus made what, except Taurus.
There is not enough collector interest in them for anyone to bother with a serial number list.
