i bring more questions. i am looking for a good left handed holster for a government model 4.25' barrell 1911. all i've seen on-line is for the full-size models. any help would be much appreciated.

One of the guys I work with carries that size 1911 IWB in a left-handed Galco Summer Comfort. It's designed for a full size one, but works just fine with a shorter gun. The nose of the holster simply flattens itself out, and make it a bit more comfortable to wear than with a full size pistol.

Very satisfied with their lefty belt slide holster for a full fram sig.

They offer most designs as 'slides' - imagine a holster w/o the bottom end, such that it could accomodate something from a 1911 officer's model to a 1911 longslide.

Try www.desantisholster.com , they have a large variety of models in left handed. I'm sure they have several for the commander.

I have a Talon Tactical Deep 6 IWB for my Taurus PT-99 (Beretta clone) that's the most comfortable holster I've ever used. Mike Benedict is left-handed so if it's left hand you need give him a try.

I use a Comp-Tac Undercover pro for my G19. I know, its not a 1911.

I do have a darn near brand new Galco Royal Guard IWB horsehide holster for a 3 1/2" 1911. (RG219) Left handed too. Problem is, I dont have a pistol to go into it......................YET.

I had some leather so I made one. IWB, slight foreward tilt, two snap straps...used it for three years. Before this one, I carried a Colt Diamondback 4" in a similar rig for three years. I already had the tools so it was a no-brainer. I've made several for my sons, too. They seem to like them. Reckon they should...the price was right! ;)

I've taken to making my own. But, before I did that I bought from Milt Sparks, they do great work. For less $, Dillon has holsters and for $5 more you can get any of them in left hand version.

i'm in the same boat. Hard to find good holster for lefty's without paying extra. Generally it's not just a small $5 sharge as you can't just get it in your local shop and have to order it online + shipping.

I second the Desantis option......good for CCW too.I had a Speed Scabbard for my Combat Commander and it worked great(although the gun didn't).
Call though ,sometimes they have to actually MAKE the holster ,their lefty stock is usually kept pretty low.Good luck..........I feel your pain;)

I have one of each and they are great. No surcharge for left handed (which I am) either.

I'm using an Uncle Mike's Injection Molded Kydex holster for my Kimber.
