I inherited a Remington UMC pistol in .380 that I'd like to take down for cleaning. I'd appreciate any instructions on how to remove the barrel, etc. I must be missing something very simple, as I can't get the slide removed. I'll try to post a picture of the pistol this evening.

On the Remington model 51:

*Remove the magazine.
*Pull the slide back until the cut on the slide aligns with the barrel lock pin.
*Push the pin out from the right side until you can finish prying it out from the left side.
*Now pull the slide back and pull the barrel toward the front.
*The slide & barrel will now slide off the front of the frame.

I would not strip it any further then that.

rcmodel - I just wasn't pulling the barrel hard enough. Thanks so much for the help, I now have the slide and barrel off. This pistol definitely needs a good cleaning.
