I am looking for a scope to put on a Howa 1500 in .308 that I want to shoot at longer range(600m-800m+). I want a decent to good optic but do not want to spend $2000, I would like to spend around or less than $1000. The Burris 6-24x50 Xtreme Tactical XTR came up in conversation with a friend and was wondering if anyone had input on it, if not what else would be a good option?

Most of the "tactical community" recommends the leopold mk4 or SWFA Super Sniper for the "budget-constrained"

What will you be shooting out to 800 yards? Paper, Steel, Animals? Known distance, unknown distance?
