Just what the title says - anybody seen/handled/bought one yet? Price, impressions, etc? I just bought and sold a FEG near-copy (P9M) and since I spent the money for magazines I'd like to get another HP (exact copy). Don't have the money for a real Browning or FN, nor will I anytime soon...

Thanks for the reply, and the welcome. I've been lurking for some time (long enough to have been a member and lurked on TFL as well) but don't have much cause to post. I own a Kimber no-frills version - great pistol - and bought the FEG to be able to shoot 9mm; unfortunately it didn't turn out to be quite the bargain I believed it would be.

Anyone else?

I'm not a fan of the FEG's as well. Never had good vibes when I picked one up as I have when picking up other HP clones.

Considered a FEG for a while but decided on the Arcus 94 since it actually is compatible with Hi-Power parts.

And it doesn't appear that the Charles Daly will be as inexpensive as this gun was.

If you want a less expensive HP-esque pistol, why not a CZ 75? They're like a cross between an HP and a Beretta 92. Still cost below 4 bills mostly, and hicaps are available and not too expensive.

Definitely better quality reputation than Chuck Daly pistols

This will be my next purchase, AFTER a HP-type pistol. I've always liked the CZ pistols and have heard almost nothing but good comments about them. However, right now:

1. I just got rid of a HP (sort of) and I'd like another,
2. I already have several magazines for the HP that I didn't get rid of, and
3. I'm jonesing for a HP right now ;) :D

Any info on the Arcus or Argentine HP that anyone wants to share will be appreciated; I'll be doing a search as well.

M-Q, that's a good suggestion. However the 75 isn't an HP and hence not the point.
There is something about the HP that makes it unique. Not just the fact it's a single action, or that it's a high capacity 9MM, or that it's a classic. It's more than the sum of these parts.
The hope is that the CD-HP isn't just a rebadged FEG with tacky as hell roll marks and nice sights.
As it stands right now, FN is the only one making high quality HPs. So we are all very interested in a new source for a less spendy HP... if the quality is good.
If not, these will be disappointing to us shooters, but the gun rags will claim them to be Thor's Hammers.

Well, came home today with an Argenitine refurb'd HP. Finish isn't as good as the FEG or a real Browning, but for my purposes it's fine. Sights SUCK - very small - going to have to change them before long.

Rittmeister, be sure not to replace any Argentine parts with Browning OEM parts. The Argentine parts have a reputation for being softer. Just to save you some possible future headaches.

Can you go into a little more detail for me? I've never shot anything enough to need to replace parts (yet :D)

If you decide to replace parts like hammer/sear/trigger ect. Like if you get a Browning hammer, make sure to get a Browing sear as well. There's people alot more knowledgable on this in this forum and on fnhipower.com

You're gonna hate to hear this, but I've got uncle mike's on my 82' belgian hi-power.

I agree with Goerge..the HPs are a classic in their own right....the start of something wonderful and much different than the CZ..which is another stellar gun in its own right....just VERY different.

In order of what I would search for in the HP's and clones...from my own experience..is

Browning/FN thoroughbred..........the real deal.
Arcus/FEG...dont knock these..they will surprise you.
FM/Argentine guns tend to be looser and softer........

The CD gun IMO is gonna do well....beautiful gun. If it has FEG parts w/AO sights...you could sure do alot worse.

I think Wondernine meant to say...replace the trigger group parts with real HP parts or C&S stuff....you wont regret it.
