The gun seems to be in really good shape. Doesn't look like it has been fired much. I think I know why. The gun is a 45/70.
What I am thinking is that it would be great with a .45LC/.410 barrel. I would end up buying the gun, getting the barrels I want for it, and almost certainly getting rid of the 45/70 barrel. I like my wrists right where they are, and I have no need for any more physical defects in the area of my head, so getting rid of that barrel is the most logical step.
Considering these circumstances, would I end up with a descent deal out of this?

Yes that's a fair price for the gun (frame) and barrel. Sell the barrel on eBay and you'll get about $100 for it. A used Contender frame with grip goes for about $230. See how easy it is to make $30.

Buy your barrels at: Ed's Contenders (http://www.edstc.com/edstc/index.html) he's a class act, unless you want to go full custom.

The .45/410 barrel is fun. Very mild to shoot. Just don't forget to take the choke out when you switch to .45 Colt!

45-70 is why the gun hasn't been shot too much......recoil is something else.....

I just paid $300 for mine with an ordinary 10 inch 357 barrel and thought I got a pretty good deal. .45-70 sounds fun, it's high on my must have barrels list. If you decide to buy it and get rid of the barrel, I may know a buyer.

I will check it out a little more and get back to you when I know a little more. IIRC, the barrel is about 10 inches with no sights, but it does have a scope rail on it already. It does have a muzzlebreak on it, but I am not sure about what type.

Scope rail? Not many pistol scopes will take that kind of punishment.
