I've gotten to the point where some of my weapons will only see the inside of my safe for weeks, if not months, at a time. I am curious as to whether there is any special preparation used by members for a gun that will see long term storage. Specifically, can I keep them in their cloth/foam cases in the gun-safe or might that be harmful to the weapon.
I remember reading somewhere that the cloth in those cases leaches the oil off of the gun over time but I can't find the specific thread nor do I recall whether this happens quickly or whether it takes a long period of time before the gun is compromised.
