Question on velocity increase in rifle

I'm looking at getting a 454 carbine to pair with my Super Redhawk, and also for the simplicity of only reloading one round. If you're getting 1900fps out of a 7.5" barrell, what kind of increase could you safely expect to see in a 20" barrell? 240 to 300 maybe?

Probably safe to figure on around 300 ft/sec more...

#00 ft/sec sounds about right. Minor variances are due to different powder burn rates. but generally it's about 100 ft/sec per inch . blitz

that post shows my chrono results shooting the same load through a rossi levergun with 20" barrel and a taurus raging bull with 8" barrel.

both are in 480 ruger which is reasonably similar to 454casul
