my question: is it safe or will premature wear occur if i shoot buck and slugs through my 1100 that is otherwise factory stock besides the "competition master" 22" barrel. I have both IC and mod rem chokes.

Thanks in advance.

Shoot all the buckshot and slugs you want. It is no more harmful to the gun that any other full power load. After about 6,000 to 8,000 rounds you should replace the recoil spring, but that is true even if you are shooting light target loads.

I have a remington 1100 Trap T Model, 250,000 rounds through it since 1979 and have never had to change or replace a part including the Recoil Spring.

You are not going to hurt that 1100 by shooting slugs through it..

Thanks for the insight guys. Was just concerned the hard recoil would add premature wear to the receiver and it's components.

That gun needs to be in a Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum. :)
