First time to the range with the new p22 and it had a hard time cycling. I was using Federal Champion 40 grain high velocity. What do I need to do?

if it has a lighter recoil spring try that. Also clean the pistol and relube it. Try some CCI mini-mags and Federal Automatch.

Use minimags, my brothers will only work reliably with them. Hop over to rimfirecentral, that have a walther board the has alot of stickies on the P-22

P22's can be very ammo sensitive. Try different brands and bullet types 'til you find what works and what doesn't. fgr' was right about CCI mini-mags. Truncated cone bullets like Vipers and Yellow Jackets do not feed at all in mine and some hollowpoints do not feed reliably all the time. I tend to stick to Remington Golden Bullets and CCI mini-mags.

My son's P22 definitely does not like Remington ammo, in any form. Best results are with CCI Minimags and Federal High Velocity. It also performs best with copper clad bullets, compared to standard lead bullets. I have noticed that the gun does seem to get dirty rather quickly; you might want to keep the gun really clean between shooting sessions, with a light lube applied to the slide and frame rails.

Mine was fed only mini-mag at first, but then I started getting the bulk packs. Currently golden bullets are my favorite. Eats just about anything now. Try some different brands of ammunition out. They're be one that works well for you. :)
