Could someone tell me how to install ghost ring/night sights on a Remington 870 express? I would like to keep this along with my bedside gun.

Thanks.

If you have to ask, you should probably get a gunsmith to do it for you. Best bet IMHO is to have the receiver drilled and tapped for the rear sight installation, and the front sight silver soldered onto the barrel.

Tritium is best left to the front sight only, as it tends to be overwhelming when used in a ghost ring rear given the sight's proximity to the eye. The tritium element in the front sight sight should not be installed until after the sight is soldered into place and any necessary refinishing is done. I like MMC's offerings for ghost rings, others may differ as to preference.

I had a gunsmith install a set of Trijicon ghost rings on my 870, as there was no way I could do it without completely screwing it up. He drilled and tapped the receiver for the rear sight and used some kind of epoxy on the front sight. He did a great job. Well worth the $100 it cost.

Do you have any pictures that I can see?

Thanks everyone. Anyone else?

One of the best ghost ring sight setups is the Wilson, which is what Remington installs on factory Police guns.

You can have Wilson do it for you for a reasonable price.

With Wilson there's no risk of a bad drilling job like you sometimes get with local gunsmiths. They do it right, and stand behind their work.

At one time, Scattergun Tech sold an installation jig for their rear sight. The jig made it a simple install. I do not think that Wilson sells the jig now, but they sometimes pop up for sale. I have installed a few of Scattergun/Wilson/Trijicon rear sights. They seem to be a serviceable item, but the adjustments are crude and the sight seems exposed to abuse. As far as the front, I prefer the MMC band sights. It is an easy install, and can be removed for service. I don't know about the long term durability, but my experience has been positive. YMMV

The sights Wilson combat uses are Trijicon. Wilson just puts their name on them and ups the price...... Buy your Trijicon ghost ring night sights from Brownells. These....
