I just ordered a pistol grip/shoulder stock combo for my mossy 500. Does anyone have one of these? How do you like it?

Normally this would be a thread you post before ordering it :D

pistol grip/shoulder stock combos are a really great way to turn a really good safety into one that's on par with an ak (which is bloody horrible).

stick with the standard stock.

Have had a side folding stock with PG on every 590 I have ever had and like them very much. There's one particular style of folder I like because the lock is very tight on it and if I could think of the maker I'd tell ya. :) Never found the safety to be a problem, just roll the hand up the side of the gun and click it. Not much of a change from the original since I can't operate it without shifting my hand anyway.

Personally the safety on my 590 dosen't see much use anyway. I leave mine loaded, but bolt closed and hammer dropped on an empty chamber. (no kids yet, will install one of those "Cruiser clamps" in the closet when we do...)

The hammer is dropped so I don't have to fumble with the slide release to rack it should SHTF. And just as a technical note, I verify tactile (finger) and visually that the chamber and lift gate are empty, point in a safe direction anyway, pull the trigger to unlock the bolt and slide but leave it closed... THEN load the mag tube, so there's no chance of a mixup or AD/ND.

I have no use for the Mossberg safety - the chamber stays empty until I am ready to fire. I wouldn't rely on the safety as I would a safety on a modern pistol anyway.

I use the safety on my mossberg under all circumstances. my thumb stays on it.

The main reason to buy a mossberg is the safety and bolt release location. why sacrifice that?

if you want to put a PG stock on something, get a defender or 870 or something.

To each their own I suppose. I like the Mossy because of the dependability and the way it looks. The safety isn't even a consideration.

Daedalus: I know. Whoops!

So, the only concern is the safety then? If so, no worries, I dont use the safety anyway!
