If any of you are interested in signing a E-petiton to do attempt to do something about income tax you might be interested in this web page.

Don't know too much about these folks, just FYI. I do think the US Gov collects and spends more of our income than they should.
Mods---if it's not acceptable to post this kind of post please clobber it as you see fit.
Take care,

One step at a time.
Who thinks they have a chance in H. E. double-hockey-sticks in succeeeding?
Anyone?
Seriously, what needs to be done, within the bounds of potential legislative reality, is the abolishment of automatic payroll witholdings at both the state and federal level. It would accomplish several things:
Come April, the voting public will scream bloody murder. The voters themselves (at least those who work for a living) would fix things relatively quickly over the next few election cycles. And for the first few years while people got used to it, the IRS would be hamstrung with massive applications for extensions and payment plans. :D
Businesses would realize substantial savings in thier H.R. and payroll processing costs. Savings which will be passed along as better wages to employees, better prices to their consumers, or dividends to investors. (remember, "little old ladies" and union members have pensions and mutual funds too...)
Even if this didn't spur the eventual abolishment of the income tax, people would be forced to do thier own witholdings and the wise ones would at least earn a tad bit of intrest while waiting for April 15th to roll around.

What you could do is get some momentum going demanding a inquiry about the ratification of the 16th Amendment. It was never properly ratified, and it is therefore illegal. I suggest looking into it yourself a bit, but how can the Feds enforce a law that we, from doing a little bit of research, can show was not legally passed?
