This is not a Remington bash. Photo borrowed from archive here 2 yrs ago. Looks like overloaded charge or barrel obstruction. Remington receiver made it intake while rest of parts gave up the ghost. WOnder what will end up if the receiver was aluminum made like Mossy and Winchester ?

While the receiver is much more intact than the rest of the firearm, it still "Gave up the ghost" so to speak. Its split two or three inches or so from the breech, and mushroomed out at that point. Its definitely been destroyed (i.e. unfixable/unshootable), but not as badly as the rest of the firearm.

That's a bit like what I imagine would happen when someone drops a 20 ga in a 12ga gun then tries to load and fire a 12ga shell.

I wonder if the trigger group was usable?

Sorry, but I would not say that the receiver survived at all. It's toast.

On the aluminum receiver shotgun I have the bolt locks into the breech, so I'm guessing a KB wouldn't be much worse than that. The receiver isn't taking the force as much as the steel bolt is.

I think the survival of the receiver was the least of the owner's worries... do I still have a face on my skull?

The only good parts look like the mag tube cap, the stock and maybe the trigger group.

Yep- looks like a 12-on-20 kB. And the receiver is toast too, steel though it is. It's scrap now- and an object lesson about mixing shells of different gauges. Don't put the yellow shells in the 12 gauge...

That was what I was thinking, sending 12 ga shot into the back of a 20 ga shell.

I think the Mossy or Winchester would have fared no worse given the different locking method. I hope that guy's arm is still attached, though.

Stained underwear, at the very least. I've never seen one that burst in that location. It always scares the H@#l out of you when one gives way.
