Hi All

I have a bunch of C&R rifles I would like to sell. About twenty five of them to be exact. Selling a large amount of arms like this gets to be a lot of work just in the packaging and shipping, let alone the sales part. I was thinking about breaking them up into lots of two to three rifles each. A nice well sought after rifle, such as an SVT 40, with a not so nice beater. A couple of middle of the road rifles with a beater. This would cut way down on the number of trips to the UPS store, about an hour drive for me. And would prevent me being left with all of my beaters and no nice rifles. What do you all think of this idea?

I could also setup a web page that has photos of the rifles and all of the information I have about them. This is some work but I could do it. But then how do I get the word out that this site is up so people can see it. What do you all think about this?

I really need to move on this if I want to keep my wife happy. She has been after me to sell some of my guns for awhile now. We really do need the money but man does not live by money alone. I think I should do it because my wife has started taking in students for violin and piano and does tutoring so I have to do something. For those that don't know I had cancer and am prettymuch disabled. But I can't get disability because I didn't work before I became disabled. I was a realestate speculator but I did make a lot of money flipping houses. Then I got sick and all my plans went down the drain. Timing is everything in that game.

Your plan sounds good. Did you think about an auction? I've seen seemingly intelligent men pay way too much for guns and tools at auctions. That is if their wives aren't there.

The easiest thing is to sell them at a consignment auction. The down side is the risk of getting a poor return and the fees paid to the auctioneer.

Grouping the guns is not a good idea. The beaters will degrade the price of the good guns; people who can pay for and who want the good guns will be put off by the beaters - they don't want to own them - and people who can only afford the beaters won't be able to pay for the good ones.

Cutting down the number of trips to the UPS store is not a variable. You don't have to make one trip per package; just wait until you have several packages to ship at once.

The web site is ok if you can do it yourself and the ISP's fee is low. You can reference the web site on the classifieds of many internet forums or on Gunbroker.com and Gunsamerica.com.

How about if you sell the good guns one at a time on the web site and give the beaters to a consignment auction house to get rid of as best they can? And keep whatever good ones you want?

Sell the better guns indivdually, sell the beaters by lot. Personally I think I would sell each gun individually.

I say split them up ..you`ll end up makeing more off them and you might as well plan on makeing a trip once a week to ship them ...find some good boxes to ship in too . Gunbroker is a good place to sell ..alot of us on these forums watch Gunbroker pretty close for what we want ...Some forums have a buy sell and trade section ..don`t know if that works or not , I uasually forget to look there ..here`s 3 that get watched alot ..Gunbroker.com , GunsAmerica.com..and AuctionArms.com

Put a list on this forum so we get first dibs!

I would be interested in a cheap beater rifle that shoots for sure. I like refinishing stocks.

PM me with a couple cheapies if'n you want.

I should be clear these are not BP guns. They are mostly various Mosins, Enfields, various Mausers and a few SVT40s. I am still holding on to a few of the nicer old guns and am going to give those to my son. He will probably get them after I die, which might not be all that long.

If anyone is interested in these types of rifles send me a PM and I will send you photos of what I have.

I also have a number of pistols that I could be talked into selling if someone wants. I wasn't going to try and sell these openly because it a lot harder to get rid of hand guns. One pistol I would like to sell is a Taurus Raging Bull in 454 Casull. I have a bunch of ammo for it also.

You can ship long guns through the Post Office as long as they are going to an FFL.
Also, if your state doesn't have a state law prohibiting it, the Post Office allows you to ship a long gun to another individual without an FFL within your own state.
See the charts near the bottom of this page for more info:
