Don't own no guns at all?

And what would I want to use a preposition to finish a sentence that's hard to make sense out of up with for? :D

Untill 7/25/03 I was right up there with you Micro. I hated it. I hope your firearm deficiency cures itself.:)

I started lurking around here as a guest before I bought my first ones this year. Used everybody's overwhelming intellect to help me make my decisions :D

Seriously though, I did use a lot of the threads to do some research before buying my first one.

I'd reccomend THR to ANYBODY who thinks they might have the itch (to buy a gun that is).....

Wow, sounds worse in .il than in PRNJ... Nothing more frustrating, I know. Except maybe waiting on something you gotta have rather than just wanna have.

I was firearm-less for the first couple of months I was on TFL, waiting on PRNJ to finish diddling around with their socialism on the :barf: permit. Such is the life of a serf.

Let's everyone chip in to a "Buy-winstonsmith-a-gun fund".

Failing that, someone out in San Fran take the man shooting. This situation is intolerable.

For those that are keeping track of things from our postings (i.e. the "Watchers")...

for the record: I DO NOT OWN ANY GUNS.

In fact, I do not even think about guns

.....In fact, I do not think about anything that you have not told me to think about...... Got it???

I am sure there are quite a few members who do not. I was very interested in buying my first gun a few years back when I was a member of TFL. If you were a firearm deficient person, could you think of a better place to research your interest?

"Can you all chip in for a "Buy-MicroBalrog-a-one-way-ticket-to-America" fund too?"

Actually, you don't need a ticket to the U.S. All you really need is a ticket to Mexico and some hiking boots.

I learned how to shoot when I was young (35 yrs ago) but did not actually own any myself until about 3 days after 9/11. I just gave it a low priority and did not want to spend the money.

Now I'm up to 8 guns and I've been shopping ever since.

When I joined TFL, I didn't have any guns. Then the bug bit me, and now I have 7. Just bought the last one - a beautiful Finn M/28-30 - yesterday. And I can hear the Weatherby Vanguard in .30-06 with a Leupod Vari-X IIc for $500 calling me as we speak.

This habit is spendy, huh?

I wish I did own guns. I do get to enjoy the pleasure of shopping for guns, but somehow right after the transaction ownership transfers to my wife or son (I have as of yet figured out how that happens). They have a pretty nice collection that I'm allowed to look at from time to time and keep a steady supply of ammo for each one. :banghead: :banghead:

I know (hope?) you are joking. Your country is in a war for its very survival (yet many Israelis don't seem to realize that). You can't leave until you do your service time. After that, well you shouldn't leave anyway- work from within, vote and try to change the G-d awful gun laws there.

Hey, if you really want to be allowed to own a gun that badly move to the territories- if you live somewhere where you will be shot at you may be allowed a gun. Or maybe you don't want one that badly:evil: :neener:

I still don't own a single one. I've bought a decent amount of ammo though (to use with my uncle's arsenal out in the country). When I finally get a constant income here's my list, in chronological order:

XD40, tritium sights
IWB holster (for use when MO finally passes concealed carry)
big crate'o'ammo :D
lockable gun box thing (either this or get a new girlfriend)
cleaning eqpt.
reloading eqpt.
FAL parts

Actually, I can't, the IDF will stop me at the airport. My recruitment date is August 17th.

Me and a couple of connected buddies are trying to start off a pro-gun petition, but I doubt it's gonna work. The pro-government mindset of many Israelis, especially of gun owners, is extremely disturbing.

An Israeli anti will utter one or more of the following:

a)"We Israelis can't be trusted with guns."

b)"If you let Israelis buy guns, the (Israeli)Arabs will get them too". This guy does not mean Palestinians. He means Israeli-Arabs.

c)"We shouldn't have guns. The government said so, and they know best" (and yes, somebody said this to me once, and he was serious).

d)"The Arms Act infringes upon the right to be thought innocent until proven guility? SO WHAT?"

I am not inventing that.

The Israeli Shooters association just recently supported a Ministry of the Interior edict that only active members of sports shooting clubs will be allowed to own air rifles. They're still working out the details, so they are handing out no air rifle licenses till they'll be done.

Technically, I don't OWN a gun. My service weapon (which I store at home and carry off-duty whenever I feel like) belongs to the Federal Republic of Germany...

Hopefully I will join the ranks of gun owners next spring when I'll be elegible for a firearms permit.

Now why would I have any guns? We all know that guns cause crime, and I certainly would not want to invite crime into my house! Nor would I take the chance of injuring and thus further traumatizing some poor home invader who is simply misunderstood!:what:

+1.

I don't own any firearms, either. When you're living on UI, and when a good quality firearm (Read: Not Lorcin or Jennings) costs 300 dollars, 300 dollars is enough for groceries for at least a month, maybe more.

I only got my carry permit 8 months ago for Oregon, and I just got mine for Washington. But since permits are cheap, I can afford to splurge on the permits themeselves (since I live only 10 miles from Washington State), but a firearm requires saving for almost a year for me. Rent is more important, after all.

Kinda hard to shoot someone with your carry permt, eh? :) Just eat every other day and in two months, you willl have enough for a handgun.

Logistics also make it difficult. I do not own my own vehicle, so I cannot effectively transport a firearm under the "vehicle" laws here. I'd have to use public transit. I know no one with a car except for my landlords, and they'd start asking questions if I asked them to take me to a gun shop (yes, they are that nosey).

Oh, and did I mention the fact that Beaverton and Portland, my usual places to go when I go out, have laws against loaded carrying of a firearm if you do not have a CHL?

CHL's are cheaper to go with first, then buying a firearm.

Lonnie,

Buy a Makarov. You can get one for well under $200 and nobody questions that they are a well made and reliable firearm. Check out pawnshops where you can sometimes find old .38 police revolvers at good prices.

WinstonSmith- I hearby volunteer my services to break you of your most horrible affliction; that of never holding/firing a real live gun, boomstick, gat, six shooter, hogleg, shootin' iron, rod, heater, peacemaker, wondernine, otherwise known as a firearm.

I'm in the city and we can go to Jackson Arms in So SF.

PM me or whatever and let's fire it up.

I'lll supply the guns, ammo and eye and ear protection; you bring, uhm, yourself.

I own 35 including one registered with F Troop (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms for our foreign members...take off from an old TV show) so the Federal boys already have my photo, my fingerprints, and my address.

Micro,

The gun laws in Israel are typical of socialists. To the extent that you support the socialist agenda-you also support the gun laws of Israel. They go hand in hand. But "air rifle licenses"? Unbelievable. How about slings? Do you need a license?

That really is a shame.
I have been around guns for so long that it would seem strange not to have a few around.
I really did miss being able to just go out and shoot holes in things when I was in the Army.
Several of my buddies did as well.
We were in the modern, civilized Army.
You know, the one where soldiers aren't supposed to have a mean streak or be able to fight on a personal level.
To all you lurkers out there who are ashamed to admit that you don't have a gun yet, I have three words for you.
C-&-R.
Old military rifles can be bought for about $100 each. Often even less than that. They are generally accurate, tough, reliable, and fun to shoot.
I love them.:D

Not necessarily, IIRC it is the left that wanted to repeal those laws in the 1980's. The Likud official in my town actually told me that if they could have their way, they'd stop all licensing and not let ANYONE have guns.

But "air rifle licenses"? Unbelievable. How about slings? Do you need a license?[

No, but we do have some other nifty stuff in our gun law (illegal carry of knives, illegal possession of ammunition, transfer of legislative powers to the executive branch, illegal selling of knives...
