I would guess the Beretta 21 Bobcat, though I haven't shot it.

Well it's not current production, but the old Baby Brownings turn up every now and then; definitely one of the highest quality .25s ever made.

the small frame beretta keep coming back to our shop with cracked frames, we have stoped selling them. the .25acp coming out of any pistol is seriously underpowerd for self defence by the way a paper cup will take 5 in the chest and not even know it untill it gets home with your wallet. i really hope this is not your defense gun. but the old colt vest pocket or baby brownings above mentioner are fine pistols. the tarus line we havent had problems with either.

Better of with a .22LR
At least chocolate coat it in case somebody feeds it to you. When I worked in a hospital emergency room a guy came in with a .25 round in the center of his forehead that broke the skin and travelled between his scalp and skull until it stopped on the top of his head. MAde him mad and he beat the other guy to a bloody pulp.
Guess who needed more medical care?

I just got a little Baretta 21a in 22lr over the weekend, gotta say it's a fun little gun. Sportsmans Guide sells 22lr shot shells, I am gonna buy a box and see how they do in the little guy. Anyone tried these before? They are a shell with a plastic capsule full of shot instead of a chunk of lead. Will they feed properly thru my mag?

The bobcat model 21a is not currently being produced in .25acp, only in .22LR. Too bad. I'm not sure the .22LR coming out of the 21a would have done much more damage to that guy's skull. Out of a barrel that short the energy transfer is pretty similar. My experience is the .25acp actually penetrates slightly better than the .22LR out of a barrel that short, even though it is moving a little slower. The .22LR has a tendency to ricochet off skulls out of barrels that short.
Personally, I like the .25acp but I would shoot him in the stomach several times for the slow kill, shoot him in the head a couple of times to give him a headache then finish him off with my knife or just kick the crap out of him after stunning him.
Just use lots of bullets in lots of places and carry an extra mag so you can reload and do it all over again.

I have a Beretta 25, had it for about ten years. No problems.
It is a point shooter, forget the sights. Keep them all on a paper plate as 7 yards and you will be fine.
Yes, yes, we all know it is underpowerd. Yet no one ever takes up my offer to to try a catch one of the bullets in mid air? Awful lot of bodies littering the Earth because of the 25 auto. You don't ever hear about those cases. They don't make good stories.
The best thing about a 25 it that it's always there. Just running to the store for some mile, going to the beach, out on a date, it just vanishes in the pocket.
I'll take 9 rounds of 25 in my pocket over 7 rounds of 45 on my dresser.

I have a 950 Beretta. Very reliable. I like the safety of the Beretta pop up barrels

The bobcat in .25ACP is my mom's EDC. WOuldn't let her carry it if it was anything less than 110% reliable.
How much more of an endorsement do you need?

I don't intend to use it for self-defense. Most of the men in my family own one of one make or another, so I only want one because of that. Sort of a family tradition.

Can someone come up with the Jeff Cooper quote on this? It was something like, never look at a .25acp, because you might be tempted to buy it, if you buy it, you might be tempted to carry it, and if you carry it, you might be tempted to shoot someone with it, and if you shoot someone with it, and if he notices it, it might just make him mad enough to beat the crappola out of you.. poor rephrase, but you get the point.

I have 3 of the little Beretta's . A made in Italy 950 B and a US 950BS and a Model 20 DA/SA . They are great little 25 acp's Like several other here I yet to find a person who wants to stand their while I shoot him to show what a weak bullet it is. A 25 was just as good in a parking garage years ago as a 45 would have been. He didn't want to see how weak the bullet was either. Come on Rambo's step up After all its weaker than a BB according to many people.
Last jell test I saw 25 acp ball went over 13 " Not all that weak.

If you are talking quality you are not talking about zinc or aluminum frames in my opinion.

I have owned the Baretta .25acp Bobcat for thirty years now. Don't fire it all that much but it has been 100% reliable when I have. Very nice little gun.
