Sometime ago I inherted a S&W model 48-4 with both the 22LR and 22 mag cylinders. First, how can I tell which cylinder is which? Second, how do I change the cylinders?

Well one cylinder will chamber the 22mag and one wont! My old Ruger single six is'nt marked on the cylinders either which caliber is which. There is a screw on the frame opposite the side the cylinder swings out. Located above the triggerguard area roughly. Removing it should allow you once you swing out the cylinder to remove the cylinder to the rear.
