:neener: Gotcha! :D
But I'm not kidding- only $18 plus S&H for TACTICAL TAKEDOWN PINS! Yes, they're secured with screws... but the spring clips that hold the regular ones in place in the trigger plate seem to work OK for me... but then, I ain't tacticool like some folks are.
You just never know what you're gonna see next with the word TACTICAL attached.

I put them on an 870 before they were "tactical." Now, at last, I'm cool. Cool I tell you. Cool!
On second thought, I might not be cool after all. I bought mine from Brownells, which sells them for $13.60 instead if $17.99 (http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/productdetail.aspx?p=20694&st=078-000-048%20&s=45844). But Brownells doesn't say that they are "tactical," which obviously makes the set on eBay worth $4.39 more.
Darn. I thought for a moment that I was going to be cool.

Wow.
And here neither I, nor 99.9% of anyone who has used the 870 for the 58 years it's been on the market, knew there was a problem!

Do the screws need to be Locktited? What's to keep 'em from coming loose?
:scrutiny:

The screws work all right without Loctite. Of course the original pins work all right too, but they're so obviously not cool that I'm shocked to find anyone who still uses them. Shocked I say. Shocked. :)

JohnBT asked: Do the screws need to be Locktited? What's to keep 'em from coming loose?
Two tricks:
1. Clear Nail Polish works in keeping any screw "snug" has some elasticity, and is removable of course.
2. Moleskin, or Hook-n-Loop [Velcro] used as one does for sidesaddles work.
Just in this case, no side-saddle.
Use the Velcro dots, use the softer side, and then take a hole punch.
Like a Velcro washer if you will.
Velcro acts like a lock washer , does not mare finish, and the cushioning it provides aids in the lock washer made of Velcro staying locked.
Old fashioned cloth electrical tape worked this way too, newer electrical tape will as well.
Gee, my pins on my H&R Youth Topper 20 bore have never even begun thinking about backing out....*neener*
It ain't cheating if it works- instead called ingenuity.
Once again...[tm] Practical & Traditional has to bail out the gee-whiz bunch...

If you REALLY want the pins to stay in, there's this stuff that people in the marine pipefitting trade call "monkey sh*t" that will work great.

Wow, what an idea. We replace the spring pins that never gave us any trouble...with screw pins...OK...but now we gotta Loctite 'em in place...:uhoh:...not that this is any reflection on the suitability of the "improved" replacement part, of course... :barf:

JNewell,
You didn't get the memo-huh?
Proven practical and traditional shotguns, just work, and work and work and never need much of anything done. When they do, if they require a tool, something simple like a golf tee punches out receivers pins.
If afield, stick on the ground, whittled with a slip joint, even vehicle keys, work for field expedient "pin punchers".
Tactical means one has to have gigets, gadgets; and if'n you got teh Intrawebz special FuzzyDice-Curbfeeler Extreme tool...you gotta have gear changed over to qualify the $49.95 plus S&H you paid for it.

What a great idea.
I had a cross pin on a rifle trigger assembly that repeatedly came loose. This caused the rifle to fire when the bolt closed. Not a good thing.
I solved the problem with the trusty BFH. A few firm whacks with the BFH and the pin was peened enough so that it stayed in place permanently.

You're not paying attention. There's no need to Loctite the anti-walk trigger screws. Do you think I'd be silly enough to use them if they required Loctite? I'm shocked.
Yes, of course the original pins never give any trouble. Who said they did? These anti-walk trigger screws fall into the realm of uber alles preventive maintenance.
A rough English translation for "uber alles" is "over Alice." There is no English translation for "preventive maintenance." It's a mystical concept that allows one to know what will happen before it happens so that one can prevent it from happening, which of course allows one to charge people lots of money for things that never happen. If you're confused by this, just work on "uber alles."
Here is my testimonial. After I replaced the factory pins with the anti-walk trigger screws I can say--truthfully--that the factory pins never fell out at an inconvenient time. This preventive maintenance is well worth the money it cost me.
Besides which, it is relatively cool. Everyone who looks at this 870 of which I am speaking points at the two screws and says "What the hell have you done?" It is said with an admiring tone of voice. I might switch them out for the ones on eBay though, because those are tactical.

P.T. Barnum was correct.
There IS one born every minute.

My birth made it possible for everyone else born that in that same minute to be smart. I am a public service. But do I get any respect?
Two thoughts are appropriate here ...
First, does anyone else wonder who is the sucker in each of the other minutes before and after the time of my birth?
Second, Phineas Taylor Barnum did not say "There's a sucker born every minute." The most likely candidate seems to be David Hannum, who exhibited the original Cardiff Giant that Barnum ripped off for his own museum.

...they would have a tactical recoil pad that swivels over to allow access to the tactical bolt hole in the stock for the tactical tool to mess with all these tactical accessories.
Henry Bowman - where are you?
Make a note of this post and we will be rich suing the knuckleheads stealing my idea above and then selling it, and then royalties...
Henry and I will look gooood with our pictures on the cover of The Rolling Stone - he'll be the one wearing a Hawaiian shirt, I'll be ugly southern boy.

No danger fields in my family. We all have extremely secure trigger assemblies.
(Yes, it does make sense if you think about it long enough.)

Personally I am laughing as the tactical folks have just now "discovered" what Red Ryder has been doing all along.
-Screws in receiver check
-Mag Extension check
-Hi-round count check
-Side Saddle ring check
-Suppressed check
