Here are some pictures of an classic old Colt Army Special .38 revolver, which has a late serial number of #5303xx, which falls into mid 1926 vintage-just prior to the name change from Army Special to Official Police. This is the first old Colt .38 revolver I have ever owned. I hope that my pictures will prove enjoyable for your viewing pleasure?:

I am a great fan of Colts. I have:

A model 1849 pocket revolver
An Officers Model Target revolver
A Woodsman
A Colt .25
A Colt Detective Special
A Colt M357 (predecessor to the Python)
A Colt SAA in .357
An Argentine M1927 (built in Argentina on Colt machinery, under Colt supervision.)
A Colt Service Ace .22 Conversion Kit for the above
A Colt New Service in .45 Colt.

Lovely. Thanks for the pics. I have an Officer's Target model that looks about 40% that good. :D

BTW anyone know where I can get original-looking grips for the officer's Target model?

I have a set. They are "Coltwood" -- which is to say, "marbled" plastic. I put Hogue rosewood grips on mine and have the orginals in the safe.

The Python has the same grip frame, right?

Vern Humphrey:

You have many nice vintage Colt's! I certainly can't compete with your great listing-but, I do have just a few more old Colt revolvers, as follows:

1)1938 vintage commercial Colt New Service .38/.44(6" barrel).
2)1950 vintage Colt OMS .38(6" barrel).
3)1960 vintage Colt model .357-"Engraved"(4" barrel)
4)1968 vintage Colt OMM .22(6" barrel)

The above, represents a very small Colt collection-but all of them are in virtually mint condition. BTW Vern, I'd like to see some pictures of your Colt .357(pre Python)and, I'll bet that it's a nice one?

Thanks to everyone so far, regarding their compliments. I wasn't expecting this many responses so soon-since I didn't know if very many members would have much interest in an old Colt Army Special .38?
